Let's start about the misinformation on this page alone. 1) no GT program as it is not needed. 2) No Extended day program. The few after school activities are used as a babysitting service with not all kids taking them seriously. 3) No parent involvement. 4) No tutoring program ,community service, and required volunteer hours are not completed or paid for. Kids yell at their teachers and speak disrespectfully to them, including admin and little is done by the principal. The kids who are there to learn and do what they should are not getting the education they deserve or good school environment. Bullying and aggressive behavior is rampant in the school. There are teachers that aren't even certified by the state! No one really seems to know what is going on most of the time. The school has been banned from using the park across the street because their students were rude to the senior citizens who live there and do not treat it with respect. Any good reviews must be done by a few staff to beef up the rating as most staff doesn't return each year, over half. This school talks a big game, but the reality is that it's all talk. RUN AWAY! You've been warned.

I am so proud of CCA. The faculty and staff are true leaders despite what obstacles lay a head they collaborate as a team and receive advice and help from parents when appropriate. I have witnessed solutions to issues that a raise in all schools, met with respect and grace. The other reason we chose CCA was because we felt we could be a part of the community and help teach our CCS students to learn how to become community leaders.

No, Just NO! I went to this school for three years and hated it. I was rarely treated with respect by ANY of the teachers and staff, didn't get help with anything I needed. They didn't care about the students at one point. I was only able to work with one teacher out of the entire school. I seriously do not recommend this school to anyone unless you want to be treated with absolute disrespect from pretty much everyone and have them constantly tell you how they're "College Bound" and "Creating Leaders" or whatever. It's not worth sending your kids to.

I am a teacher at CCA-Denver. I've been privileged to serve both the middle school and elementary students as a 1st grade teacher, 5th grade teacher and middle school dance instructor since 2010. No school is perfect but over the years I've learned through personal experience that those who teach at CCA are there because they truly love children and want to make a positive impact in their lives. This school is geared towards those who learn in a traditional environment. The schedule is intense and curriculum rigorous. To those who need a more flexible environment such as Montessori, this school may not be the right fit. However, if your child thrives on routine and high expectations, come and take a tour for yourself. I am proud to say that the teachers receive weekly training on meeting a variety of student needs through the use of data to differentiate learning. Our teachers work as a grade level team as well as vertical teams to help children to successfully learn and transition from each grade. If you'd like to learn more and see if CCA is the right fit for you, visit our website, Facebook page or school.

I'm a FORMER teacher from this school and the big reason I left was due to the high level of disrespect that some of the middle school students have for their teachers. Cussing at them, walking out of class whenever they want, yelling and back talking, and accusing staff members of being racist whenever they get in trouble, even when asked to do the simplest things. The school refuses to really discipline the trouble makers and thus they disrupt the entire learning environment. These kids are doing what they please and the principal does nothing about it and has even made excuses for their behavior. In other schools I've worked at kids were suspended for this type of behavior! Suspensions are not a part of the philosophy at this school no matter how severe. Good families and teachers are leaving, left, or looking to leave by the end of this school year if not before. This can be a good school, but as long as certain behaviors are being tolerated, it will continue to struggle and staff turnover will remain high. There are many good kids at this school, but unfortunately there are too many others who are making it less desirable.

I think this school is GREAT for many reasons. The teachers work really hard and are supportive of the students. They go above and beyond planning lessons and making sure the students are receiving the best education. The paraprofessionals in the classroom support the teacher with small group intervention for struggling students. The school welcomes parents - parents are required to volunteer 2 hours a quarter in the classroom. The school puts on various events including Family Fiesta and CCA day. The administration is supportive of the students. They are approachable when you have questions. I would recommend this school to others!

I am so excited for the new school year. Cesar Chavez just gets better every year. A new school, like everything else, takes time to iron out the flaws and learn. The recent turnover in teachers was a concern, until I reseachered the turnover in other schools. Unfortunaetly, the pay is not close to what our teachers are worth, personality conflicts are in every work place and young teachers just move on. I am confident that our scores will speak volumes. Our parent approval rate is 92%! What a inspiring addition to Northwest Denver!

I have three children attending CCA and have been since kindergarten my oldest now in 7th grade. I am confident I have chosen a great school for all three of them. I understand the concern w/ the turn over in teachers but I am completely satisfied with the way Ms. Patel is running the school. I thought she was an amazing teacher and now she's an amazing leader. Her biggest concern is educating our children and I am so proud to be apart of such a great organization and community. I know they are there to listen, communication is great w/ teachers and all staff for that matter. Ms. Patel is outside every single morning and afternoon to greet the students, watching out for the safety of her students. I would recommend this school to my closet family. I encourage anyone looking for a great school in our neighborhood to pay CCA a visit. Academically my children are doing wonderful, honor roll every semester.

My boys went to Cesar Chavez Academy for K -2 and K-1. I have been so impressed by the high academic standard as well as with the strong community feel. I felt great about dropping them off in the morning, especially when I seen the principal and other teachers outside to greet them. Both of my boys are reading 2 grades ahead. I love that they were assessed so quickly and put in reading groups that fit their level. We were sad to leave the school after moving to Northglenn.

My children have attended the school since it opened and I have only seen changes for the positive - and so happy the school is K-8! The current Admin team are all former educators and seem to be holding the teaching staff to a higher standard than those before (and the test scores show the improvements). The principal is wonderful - a no-nonsense person, but you can tell she really loves all those kids. Still a young school and not everyone will always be happy, but there are lots of good changes and moving in the right direction! Fresh faces and new perspectives is not a bad thing!

I live in the community and feel that CCA is absolutely the best school in the area for my kids. The school has a strong focus on things that matter in the real world, reading, witting and arithmetic . They go way above and beyond the basics though and emphasize that every kid can achieve anything they want - each classroom is named after a college and they drive the fact home that college is not only for other kids, it's for everyone. CCA teaches my kids to be community leader, scholars and citizens of the world. They give kids the mind set to have BIG ambitions and then teach them how to follow and achieve those ambitions. Great principal and dedicated staff who care about these kids make it a great place to send your kids every day!

I have had my children at CCA since it opened it's doors and am extremely happy with the staff and administration. I feel like this school has seen many changes over the past 5 years and the changes show growth in both test scores and culture. The current principal is amazing and is extremely focused on what is best for the kids. I highly recommend this school for families looking for a great school in a great community.

CCA-needs to change name to HOT MESS!!! very unhappy as a community member, administration and the CCA school board need to be educated on how to run a successful institute of education. With such a HUGE staff turn over after the 2012-2013 school year should tell everyone there is something wrong at CCA. I am so happy that none of my children will ever have to attend CCA, I will drive any distance just so that they won't.

I was extremely happy with this school until the recent turn over, every grade level has lost a teacher and those that have applied internally, are being rejected, this saddens me because they are excellent teachers that could help the school grow in such a positive way! None the less here goes another school year learning new staff etc, I am not willing to do this and have choosen to send my children to a school that can retain staff and students! So sorry for the change in principal as well I fill that she is an excellent person but not the best leader for the school, very little growth has happened since she took over, it saddens me :(

My son is finishing his second year at CCA. He has grown so much in that time. He is reading way beyond his grade level and has been on the gold honor roll all year. I am very impressed with the teachers that my son has. Each one has taken the time to make sure that he understands and retains all the knowledge he gets during the day. I want to say THANK YOU to the teachers and staff at CCA!

My son has gone to CCA since Kinder last year. CCA was the best thing that could have happened to our family! They take the time to get know the student as well as the whole family. I am able to communicate daily with my son s teacher. The principal is visible & always checking in w/ us to see how things are going. I have never felt like an outsider at this school. My son loves going to school every day. He loves the music class! Lots of schools don t offer music, let alone art or gym. He gets it all at CCA! I look forward to the day his little brother starts kinder in 2 years. My son had a behavioral issue come up last year & the quick response from everyone was spot on. We spoke w/ the social worker on staff, his teacher & his reading teacher to develop a plan that benefitted all & within a week he was back on track. The staff was so concerned about making every day a success for him. My son is in the minority at this school, but I have never felt that was an issue for him or our family. (I was surprised to read about it in the previous review.) We enjoy the cultural diversity this school has to offer. We would recommend this school to anyone! 1st grade parent

I am so dissappointed in Cesar Chavez. My daughter started going there in 1st grade and has been there a year in a half. She has always been very social and I wanted her to go to a school that would offer quality education, and a diverse student background. Although they do have a tough curriculum, I quickly found out that because she is white, she was getting picked on constantly. Unfortunately, when I finally brought it up to the school, they came back and blamed my daughter! In a year in a half, not one single thing was mentioned to me about my daughter being mean to any other student, UNTIL, I called to discuss the bullying she was being faced with. I was on a weekly meeting schedule with her teacher, met with both the supervisor and the principle, and even made an effort to have lunch with her once a week so that I could see what was happening with my own two eyes (which I did see very clearly). I had lots of high hopes for CCA, but in the end, I truly feel that the administration and the teachers are very bad at communicating. I would HIGHLY recommend taking a tour of the school, but try and do it improptu so you get a real feel about them before making your decision.

I have two children one 12 year old and one 9 year old. My 12 year old was at CCA for his 4th and 5th grade and he learned a lot, from how to be more responisible and organized to, improve his reading and writting levels in Egnlish. He always had the supported that he needed. Now he is in 7th grade, he is a greaet student, very responsible and he still remember the Core Values that he learned at CCA. My 4th grader is doing great too, he loves his teachers, he always gets help when he needs it. He always goes to school very happy. I love the teachers, they are always available when I need to talk to them and they work very hard to make sure that the school improves.

I had 3 children attend this school. It was great until all the recent turn-over started happening. All the teachers my children loved are gone and only those who never seem happy remain. The whole atmosphere feels negative now.

My child is treated like a child not a student number at CCA. The staff make u feel welcome every time you enter the doors. My children have accelerated so much more in one year the she did in two at her last school. My kids will always attend Cesar Chavez Academy.LISMEDINA

I agree with the previous comment but CCA-Denver also offers students a unique education that fosters academic growth, integrity, and community building. This school is also very diverse. I highly recommend this school.

This school is an EXCELLENT choice for the North Denver community. My son has been attending here since the first academic year 2009/2010 and he is continuing to advance his knowledge in all subject areas. I really love the Success For All (SFA) reading program where they block out 1/4 or their morning to read and learn reading techniques. If your child is a 3rd grader and they read at a 4th grade level, they will attend a 4th grade level SFA class and vice versa to get caught up. Teachers and staff like to get to know families and their wants and needs. They all ROCK! Also, they have "Parent Academies" every quarter where its mandatory for parents to attend to learn what their child will be learning. This helps parents understand learning materials so that they can help their child at home. I love this school!!!
