Don't believe the hype. While the ideas are good - an all girls' school, athletic principles, and individualized learning plans - the school does not deliver and fails at its core purpose - education. This school has been an extreme disappointment. Every day is a pep rally so the girls love the atmosphere, but the academics are terrible, they have no resources for things like text books or computers or microscopes, the movement principle was greatly oversold, and it is run very poorly. My daughter's self confidence has increased but her academics have fallen way behind. If your daughter is coming from a failing school this is a step up, if your daughter is coming from an average school this is a huge step down. My daughter is going to have a lot of catching up to do at her new school next year.

It wasn't for my daughter. She would come home upset. I know people who like it though. It's for only certain people.

I am a student at this school and it is an amazing school! There may not be a ton of movement but we have only been a school for two years and it's something that the staff is working very hard to improve. Overall the academics are incredible. I have been challenged in so many ways and it's improved my grades tremendously. I now have a 4.0 gpa and scored advanced on all C-SAP tests. Also, The staff is really dedicated. They always take the time to get to know every student and help them with what ever they need. This school is a great school that can only get better as it develops.

Hello, i am a student at gals and i enjoy it. although the name is misleading in that there is not as much movement (gym) as other schools- an hour 2 days a week- i have seen significant improvement in my grades and academics. I was previously at a rather large school and had a GPA of 2.3, and i have now raised it to a 3.8. i am pleased with the majority of the faculty, and i agree with the overall morals of the school. Most importantly, i learned what i want and how to make it happen for my self educationally, and i feel that if i were to move to a different school, i could do just as well as i do now. this school has taught me so much- life skills, basic subjects (english, social studies math, science), speech, confidence, and the ability to learn.

GALS is a great idea, but unfortunately the lack of leadership makes it terrible in practice. They claim to be project-based, but I've seen no projects. They claim to be wellness-oriented, but the students work out only two half hour periods a week in the parking lot. They don't even have a real physical education teacher or the space to properly get fit. A big disappointment!
