To continue, I need to enroll them somewhere, and advice on where would be appreciated. Also, am I just out of luck for all the "lottery" schools out there?

Where are you actually living, I hope not in Denver my husband works for the Denver Police Department and would never ever let our children go to a Denver County Public school. Some of the sub-burbs of Denver have good schools, but Not Denver it self. I would be begging Principles at schools through lotteries or transfers to get your kids into better schools

I didn't say where to try The Cherry Creek schools are good and where we go in the Douglas County schools are wonderful, I would do what ever it took to get into either district everything south of Denver is better and North of Denver is well not so great, just the way it is every city is like that

Thanks! I have actually lucked out and managed to "choice" them into Lowry. It is Denver, but I have been there and it looks very nice, small, and in a great neighborhood. It also has at least a better than average ranking here on great schools, and all the parent reviews are sparkling... It is very close, too, so I think we will do well. Thanks again!

Oh good Lowry is a totally different thing a new area Denver is trying to build up new again and it is very nice and a different story from the rest of Denver as long as you stay in Lowry, anyway that is great glad you found a good alternative! And unless Denver is different then Douglas county once you open enroll into the school of your choice you are there for good, the only way to leave is to open enroll into another school, so you should be good for a long time!
