I'm a student at MMS and in the past year horrible things have happened. With the change with principles was very upsetting,Mr.Smith barely did anything leaving all the work on the shoulders of the staff. The rules became stricter putting even more work on the other staff's shoulders. This caused lots of bullying that the staff couldn't control so they just pain ignored it. With the budget cuts faculty didn't care for the condition of the school anymore.Occasionally I'd walk down the 8th grade hall and every time I saw locker doors only hanging on by rust and the locks themselves. If you complain to a teacher they would bark at you and say that it's perfectly fine! I'm not the only student who thinks the same things. Now I have one more year at this horrible lifeless school.

Our entire experience with the Durango School System was a negative one but the experience with Miller tops the list. My son was a sixth grader who experienced a high degree of bullying and no support from the school staff. The phrase "boys will be boys" was heard so much that it became something of a bad joke. Groups of kids ran unmonitered from the school grounds to form "fight clubs" that harrassed children on the way home. In addition my son who had received academic support throughout his elementary school years was lost in the system despite several meetings with teachers. At no point were any of his needs met.

Miller has been a good experience for my son. The social environment wasn't ideal but the teachers are fantastic and the quantity of extra-curricular activities allows for just about any child to find something to get involved in.

I used to be a student at Miller Middle School and thought that the learning environment and everything else was just wonderful! All the teachers know how to teach what they're teaching and try to let the kids have as much fun as they'd like. The sports were great there, as the coaches were top notch. Although the social atmosphere wasn't perfect, most people got along very well.

Miller is a great place for all student in durango colorado. i go there and i think it is an wonderful place. it has many activites for all the grades (6-8). we do need better equipment for sports but it is a great place over all. i wish miller could grow a little bit more and it would be great to see some newer and younger teachers after i graduate from high school. i would really want to see my school go from where all the bullies to where all of the smart kids go.
