My son is going into 5th grade next year and has been here since K. This is an awesome school! I believe he would never be where he is now in any other school.
Our son is in third grade and so far has had excellent teachers each year. We also love the healthy lunch program and greenhouse.
Great science program utilizing a green house to grow vegetables and composting. Teaching green methods all around!
Brush Creek Elementary School is a cool school, it's kids ride their bikes to it, skip, run and slide into it. Its a cool school, it gives our community fullness.
I have 2 girls in kindergarten at Brush Creek Elementary. I have to say my experience has been great! First and most exciting for me, they let me decide if I wanted my twins to be in the same classroom or not. Not all schools do that, and I appreciate it. I also appreciate that there are only 16 kids in each classroom. The principal worked very hard to get another teacher and I know all the parents are very grateful that it worked out. Thank you Mrs. Eberts.
Teachers take an interest in every student making the learning process good for my children.
As a parent of a toddler and having close connections to BCES I would feel very comfortable placing my child in the hands of the teachers at BCES. I have witnessed the teachers putting students first on many occasions. Great job BCES staff. Your hard work does pay off.
I think it is pitiful when a principal is allowed to so demoralize teachers and students alike and the district superintendent is more concerned with his precious tap program than his parents or students. The teachers that remain should be commended for provided as much variety and excitement in their lessons as they do given the negative atmosphere. They are truely the childrens salvation.
BCES is facing difficulties due to the district mandated TAP program. Teachers are being treated with great disrespect by administrators and are being hobbled in their attempts to be innovative. Very little differentiation. Entire district is consumed by test scores and everything must be measureable. Teachers still manage to be loving and caring to the kids and there are many outstanding teachers. Principal is very controlling in an unhealthy way. I'd say my kids are receiving a slightly below average education because of the problems and difficulties the teachers face.
The school is in a beautiful setting. There are some truly great teachers who will never meet their full potential due to the overwhelming amount of administrative rules, mandated curriculum and regulations handed down by a school district that is out of touch with needs of this school. The impending doom of TAP is also a big downfall as well as the obsession with teaching to CSAP. Additionally, it is the principle's way or no way. Makes it hard for parents to want to stay involved as well as for the teachers to want to be inovative. Lots of nice attempts by parents for programs and resolution to ongoing problems that continually get shot down. I think the school has great potential but still has a long way to go.
