Things have changed being 2010. New principal. New teachers and sense of pride in the school. They are open to new ideas and my son is doing very well and happy!

Paint this school bleak! What a depressing feeling one gets upon entering. There is absolutely no enthusiasm in the place. As I walked the halls the first day of school (usually a high energy day) there was a sense of dread from the teachers. I have tried to meet the principle (two separate times) and he has yet to find time for me or my husband. Charter school here we come!

There is no innovation at this school. The same principal has been there for years and years, and nothing ever changes. There is no consistency in the curriculum...some teachers get a lot more content taught to the kids, than other teachers do, and there seems to be no accountablity. There are limited 'specials' classes. Life Skills is mandatory and useless. There is no foreign language, no fine art, no choir nor drama nor speech. The high acheiving kids are so bored! My child finishes his work and has time to read a novel during every single class..some days he reads 100-200 pages! This school teaches the basics, and has forgotten how to make school challenging and interesting.

Leadership is pathetic. A husband and wife run the school (Principle and counselor). There is little discipline and less enthusiasm than at any school I have been involved with. This school will take years to fix.

Fantastic school, fantastic staff, wonderful principal. My son attended EVMS and just graduated in 2006. I cannot thank them all enough for: 1) for his education, 2) for his teachers, 3) for the schools leadership and 4) for the schools environment. I would happily repeat those years again.
