I have had nothing but a positive experience at Prairie Ridge. My son is in the 4th grade, and has gone here since Kinder, and my daughter is in the 2nd grade too. I have 2 that are younger and will also go to prairie ridge without a doubt. My kids have received a great education, and are being challenged. The teachers have all been amazing, and the principal cares so much about the kids and their families.
I cannot say enough good things about this school! We open enrolled to this school based on test scores and words from friends. The teachers are supportive, motivating and care about their students. The principal is actively involved with student activites and truely cares about each and every one of them! My youngest son will attend there next fall as well!
We have had great teachers at this school and have our third child there in kindergarten. The staff takes the time to know each of my children. It says a lot when your kids love to go to school.
If you just want average. This is the school to pick. This is our first year at this school and I have to say my daughter will not be returning next year. Not only are the trailers of a turn off. The playgrounds are hardly monitored.
We have not had a positive experience so far, except for the home room teacher, who has been exceptional. We had an issue, and when we met with the principal, we were treated with condescension and complacency. We had to go to the district to get someone who seemed to care about our concerns regarding the physical safety of our child.
Prairie Ridge has a dedicated staff that works hard to meet each student's needs. The teaching staff is very dedicated and accessible. The principal, Mr. Hoel knows each student and is very involved. You can find him helping the students, or playing 4 square during recess. The school stresses pride and responsibility. The PTO helps fund additional activities, such as supplies for Art, Music, PE and the computer Lab, Field Trips etc. Both of my children are learning and thriving.
My son started first grade at Prairie Ridge this year and I have been very impressed. The staff is welcoming and the principal is very responsive. Even though the school is huge my sons class only has 19 students.
If this school is as overcrowded as people say, I think they are doing a great job regardless. My son has learned so much this year and I am very proud of his accomplishments. His teacher is doing an excellent job with him and he enjoys going to school. My daughter will be attending Kindergarten next fall and I would not want either one of my children going anywhere else. I love the community and not only do I feel they are getting a good education, but I feel that they are safe when they are at school and those things are very important to me. I am proud to say my children attend this school.
The school is overcrowded and the teachers seem to care but they don't get much support from their school board. The school district has been mismanaged and they were over $14 million in debt in 2003. Just recently it was found the district is in violation of state laws concerning finances. They have been selling off donated land to help themselves out of financial difficulties but to no avail. School books are in very short supply and other supplies are almost nonexistant. Something needs to change soon or we are out of here.
I've been very disappointed in this school. When we moved here 3 years ago it was hyped as a brand new school with the latest of everything. What they didn't tell us was that it was already overcrowded and most of the teachers had very little experience. It has been a very disappointing experience for us, so much so that we are looking to move just to get out of the school district.
