Riversong Waldorf provides a nurturing and imaginative play realm for young children. With natural toys, practical life skills learning and unique observation of seasonal and daily rhythms, Riversong creates a most naturally enriching environment for little ones.
This school is very expensive. A parent looses a lot of time with their child just trying to earn the money to pay for it. There are too many students, in mixed grade classes, for one teacher. For example, there are about 22 first and second graders in one class, with only one teacher. At times the teacher seems frazzled, and comments on not 'knowing' her student well enough. After school care costs even more money. The financial policies make the school more mercenary than their claim of 'community'. Any benefit gained for the student is lost by the financial stress to the family.
As an educator who has taught and studied educational methods I have never seen a method that addresses all learning styles all the time. The curriculum is so rich that every childs' interests are satisfied. It is easy, in education, to take a childs' strengths and run with them, but to cultivate weaknesses into strengths is difficult. Waldorf education does this and in doing so every child can feel successful on any given day. River Song kids are thinkers, great conversationalists and very revereant for the world around them. The school has the advantage of beautiful surroundings to enhance the education taking place. Joy Alexander parent of a 3rd grader and a kindergartener.
This is the third year our daughter has been at the River Song Waldorf School. She is now in Kindergarten with two previous years of Pre-K. She loves being there. The entire child is celebrated, challenged, and nurtured at River Song. As a parent I feel like part of a big family there and my voice is honored and challenged. The school strikes a nice balance for everyone. We are committed to this school and look forward to participating as our daughter goes into first grade next year. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or comments about the school. I'd be glad to provide a parent's perspective. Delighted, David and Michelle Neils
I brought a first grade and fifth grade student to this school last year from the public schools and it was the best thing I ever did for my children and my family. I was reminded about what was genuine and significant in our hectic over done lives and refocused on my relationship to my family and the world around me. I say my children bloom in areas that were completely shut down in public school. My children will grow to be good human beings with strong academic backgrounds, enriched with art and music and the wisdom gained from respect for the world we live in.
