The last reviewer clearly did not have a proper education. It is evident with their over use of commas and poor grammar. The teachers and staff of Sobesky Academy go out of their way to meet every child's individual needs. I commend them on their efforts to help the children succeed.

Sobesky has no idea what they're doing with my child. My child has only been made worse at Sobesky, in their incessant attempts to punish the behaviors they perceive as bad, out of my child, that are just the result of my childs personal brain chemistry and poor lifes circumstances. Their staff is incompetent and the grounds are like a prison. Clearly, this is the rug Jeffco sweeps children they have no idea how to handle, under. Parents considering sending your kids here would be better off moving to a better district more equipped to handle your childs special needs, or just homeschooling. Sobesky is also not day treatment. They will tell you it's day treatment until you get there, but then they will tell you referring to Sobesky as day treatment is a misnomer. Actual day treatment placements are out of district, as Jeffco does not provide actual day treatment, they just tell you that to get your "problem child", out of one of their "good schools", and under the rug from which no progress ever actually gets made. Sobesky is Jeffco's give up school, where they turn children who need specific kinds of help, into criminals. Don't let them send your child there.

The staff and the philosophy of the school combine to provide incredible support children with special needs and their families. The kids learn powerful lifeskills to help them work thru social and emotional issues while staying up with academics and always working toward individual goals of success. The counselors, therapists, teachers and administrative staff are compassionate yet very knowledgeable and have a real desire to help these children and their families. They also provide great support to the other schools when the child is ready to return to regular classrooms. This school is a fantastic community resource which receives far too little acclaim for the good work the staff does.

Sobesky is a Day Treatment Program for kids with behavioral and emotional issues. My son was in regular school for 6 yrs and they were clueless as to how to meet his needs. The staff at Sobesky are all professionals and have done wonders with my son. He is no longer punished for behaviors that are a result of a neurological brain disorder. Instead he is counseled and helped to learn how to deal with his issues. I have met many parents of challenging children from other school districts and they do not have day treatment programs available. My heart goes out to them. Sobesky is a school that helps these children transition back out into regular school settings with special ed support. We were reluctant for our son to go there because of some of the troubled children in attendance. But now we don't want him to leave.
