I disagree with the fundamental philosophy to teach with a reward/punishment system. There is an energy from the staff that it's a terrible place. The Principle makes excuses for the teachers inexperience by saying they are learning with the students. They say they want to work with the parents, but only when it suites their need to make better test score ratings. She thinks they should have less time at recess and more time on academics, not feeding the whole child, nor creating a positive learning environment. The children are constantly being negatively corrected and conditioned to feel they are doing things wrong. Punishments including reduced time at recess! If anything, they need more time outside! If you don't have to send your child here, don't!
There are some really positive things happening at Eiber like family fun nights. We thought that we would have an alternative calendar for next year, but even after the families wanted it, a few teachers said no and the teachers' union said no. Too bad for our kids. The school is multi-cultural --- a good thing. Started a great program RRR be Responsible, Ready and Respectful. Too bad that a few of the teachers do not want what is best for the kids. I wish there was more communication with parents
