NVCS is the best school for you if you want your child to learn interesting topics that grab their attention. If you want to drop your child at the door and never think about them again, this charter school is not for you. There are high expectations for parents to be involved in their child's education, to support them in homework, encourage them to succeed and to support teachers in doing their best work. 'More experienced teachers' does not necessarily mean better. These young teachers are hard working, willing to try new things and love their students. Too many parents expect schools to 'accomodate' everything but also don't want to be bothered with following through on school requests for support. Education is a partnership. This school is one to watch in the coming years. So far, so good.
The teachers at this school may not have the most experience, but they are very caring, dedicated and passionate about what they teach. My son has learned a wealth of information in the two years that he has been there. It is amazing how much more knowledge is gained through the Core Knowledge curriculum. I've taught at public schools, and this school far outweighs them!! My son would have to take a 'downgrade' if he went to a public school--that is how much I feel he would miss out. The only negative is that some parents can be a little too involved and gossipy, but that is the reality of a charter school. Overall, it is by far the best school in the area!
There are great things about the school as long as your child does not need any type of accommodations. The school could benefit from some tenured teachers that can bring more experience to the table.
Wonderful school, my sons has gone there for 3 years and experienced great imporvement
