Mr. D and all of the teachers at MES are extraordinarily dedicated to meeting the needs of each student and at the same time making each child feel special. My daughters love going to school each day and I am very proud of what they are learning. Most important to me is the school environment, which stresses the Golden Rule. I am very happy with MES!
I have to say Mr. D is great. The kids really like and respect him. I am a little disappointed that last year 4th grade did not teach in levels and I think that is very beneficial to the students. This year is going okay but the teacher has my son do redo and re-grade the work that he is struggling with, does the grade he is receiving actually reflect what is going on with his learning? Staff is good, and my children have never felt unsafe or have I worried about their safety.
Wow...this school made huge strides in technology last year. I can't wait to see what this awsome staff has in store this year.
We just moved here and my son loves MES. The principal and teachers are truly amazing.
The Principal Mr. D goes above and beyond. He interacts with the students and truly cares for each student.
The food program is substandard. While there are some extracurricular activities, there are not enough to target a wide variety of interests. I belive parent involvement is high at MES.
Don,t like the atmosphere
We were only at Milliken Elementary for a short time, however we LOVED the teachers and the special reading program.
Child only attended this school for one year and we never really had any problems. Although I was a little concerned about a class they had where they were teaching 2nd graders about weight issues. Because of this my son to this day (3 years later) is concerned about being overweight, even though he is very slim and tall. I feel they are just to young at this age for this. At this age it is still the parents responsibility to worry about their childs weight. They have enough to worry about at this age then how many calories are in the sandwhich I just gave them.
I feel that Milliken Elementary has a broad range of children to educate and because of that, children with more advanced needs are overlooked. I feel that the school has wonderful intent in general but on a specific needs basis I have had difficulty resolving advanced placement issues with the principal and staff. It is still ongoing and I am hopeful that there will be resolution soon.
