ned is an overall great school. but the arts could be more open. i have tried out for the musical every year and have never even gotten a part in the choir. i understand that it has be perfeshionally done but i think that it is a little too competative. some of the teachers look for only perfection and praise only thoses who get straight A's. i am not saying that this is a bad school and that parents shouldn't send their kids there, i am just saying thati think they should open up to more music programs. but most of the teachers are wonderfulbut but are always strict, though some kids need that.

There are many dedicated and great teachers at Ned, but also a few really poor ones. I would appreciate the principal being more aggressive in weeding out some teachers who are clearly not up to the task. On a positive note, the small classrooms and very open athletics (anyone and everyone is welcome to participate, winning isn't primary) make this a great place for students to be able to participate and get individual attention. In addition, the whole student body at Ned seems very respectful to each other. Not as many cliques or bullies as other schools. Even though the quality of athletics or band can be poor due to the small size of the school vs. the other schools they compete against, the students are very supportive of each other, even in defeat, which is GREAT to see. High points: English, Sciences, Ski Team (alpine and cross country), girls athletics.

This school has it all. The great thing is that the school is small, the class rooms are manageable, and the kids are aloud to go out for any sport or extracurricular activity they want. Students are not passed over as they could be in larger schools. Have a sixteen year old now and had our older son go through this school eight years ago and is now doing cancer research for the University of Michigan. All because of the teachers at Ned. Great school.

Our two daughters attend the middle school and high school. They are both happy, productive, and involved students who enjoy athletics, music, and the other activities offered at Nederland. They are both excellent students who work hard and get help from the teachers when they need it--and the teachers are always available to help. It has been a wonderful experience for both our girls--not perfect--but a warm and challenging experience with choices available for their interests. We are also happy with the students at the school that are their friends--good students with good families.

I am so disappointed at the quality of education my child receives at this school. My son came in at 6th grade as a Talented and Gifted student and is so now so bored and his love of learning is eroding away. I do not recommend this school to anyone.

My son began attending school at Nederland when he started seventh grade. He loves it there, and moving to a small community school has been the best thing I have ever done for him. Due to the fact that Ned is a small school, my son has the opportunity to play football even though he is not first string quality. He plays well, but in a larger school that have an abundance of students with talent to choose from, my son would be sitting mostly on the sidelines. The experience for him has been invaluable. On another note, he is excelling academically. As a junior, he has already taken three college courses, and he plans on taking more next year. The parent involvement at Nederland is fairly good, but it would be nice to see more of it.I would recommend Ned for that small school experience.
