This school and its sister school, Elk Creek Elementary do the best it can with what they have. The per pupil spending is only 2/3 of the state average. This, coupled with the nearly 50% ELL and free/reduced lunch rate, makes it extremely difficult for KSE and ECE to excel at educating ALL students. Many resources have to go towards educating the lowest kids, which leaves the higher kids unchallenged. The schools have loving and nurturing teachers and a strong reading program, but lack a formalized science and social studies curriculum and sometimes struggle with discipline.

As a parent and a paraprofessional, I cannot emphasize how very pleased I am to have my child attending K.S.E. and to also be working as a part of this awesome educational team that provides each individual student with the necessary reading skills that are so fundamentally important in each child's road to educational success.

We are new to the area and are pleased with the new school. The teachers and resource staff are dynamic and proactive with developing goals for each child. My children are responding well to teaching methods and have adjusted nicely. The principal seems to have good leadership abilities and is very positive with the children.

My son has attended KSE since the middle of Kindergarten and we have been very impressed with their reading & math programs that they offer. Both of these programs even start in Pre-K! The teachers & staff are very helpful and really seem to care about the kids. The 'No-Bully' rules that they have as well as the procedures in place to deal with incidents. I have greatly enjoyed this school and would recommend it to anyone that wants a quality education for their children.
