I chose Gethsemane mainly for the low student to teacher ratio and the fact that the teachers and staff care so much. There is also a great deal of emphasis on academics and independent thinking. My son started learning to read and basic math skills in Preschool and continues to use these skills as he progresses. This is a great school if you want to raise a smart, independent thinker!

My children have had much success at this school. Our family has children ranging from 6-18, and we have been part of their community for over 10 years. The teachers are outstanding, and really care to the individual child. My daughter scored in the 96th percentile in Kindergarten in the Iowa Basics exams in reading and comprehension. I believe this is from the foundation she received from attending Gethsemane from preschool. She is now in 1st grade and we look forward to watching her grow at Gethsemane!

Gethsemane is great! I have two children at this school and the teachers they have are amazing. Their teachers are experienced and knowledgeable, but most noticeable is how caring and responsive they are to all the children and families. Gethsemane has a new principal this year, too, and the positive change that has been is noticeable throughout the school--there is more involvement in activities from parents and teachers. Go Gladiators!

We loved this school for many years. As with many things is life, the school has been through some changes. Unfortunately, it is no longer the school for us.

I am a parent of two children that have attended Gethsemane Lutheran School for Pre-school and Kindergarten. My pre-schooler is currently learning letter sounds and can even spell simple words. She also has excellent math skills. She can already count to 100! I also have a 1st grader that attended Gethsemane for Pre-school and Kindergarten. She is currently enrolled in public school and is an entire grade level ahead of most of our friends children that attend public school. She and our entire family have found many friends at Gethsemane and we treasure them as if they were family. I can not express the gratitude I feel toward Gethsemane Lutheran School for teaching my children in a wonderful and caring environment.

I have two kids who have attended Gethsemane Lutheran School. I cannot speak highly enough about this school. My kids have scored above the 90th percentile nationally on their standardized tests, they are in a Christ centered environment where their teachers and friends share our same values, and I love the family atmosphere. My kids are at least an entire grade level ahead of their friends in public school. It may not be a 'big' school, but they teach the things that are important. I would not hesitate recommending this school.

My children had attended Gethsemane for many years, and have made the switch to public school. The move was made for many reasons including lack of discipline and lack of extra curriculars. Much to our surprise, our very bright children are academically behind the other in their grade. They have been playing catch-up to their peers all year.

My children have attended Gethsemane since preschool and have enjoyed an EXCELLENT Education from highly skilled, caring teachers. They are more advanced in their studies than their friends who attend public schools.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
