Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

As a long time parent and teacher at this school, I choose to invest my children's education and my professional career into this community. Our administrative staff has provided changes that transformed our school into a professional, assessment-based, instructionally proficient, warm, and inviting community. Changes under new admin include new facilities (gym, field, offices), Core Knowledge curriculum, professional development in differentiated instruction, use of CBM and ITBS assessments, hiring of excellent teachers, Reading Counts, Rachel's Challenge, enhanced security/emergency protocols & equipment the list goes on. Along with this, enrollment is nearly at max cap. That is very telling considering the number of free charter/public schools in the vicinity. People choose to be here. It is an exceptional community. Our leadership fosters a professional culture that is collaborative, engaged, and driven to meet the needs of diverse learners. I ve witnessed the ferocity in which our staff strives to meet the needs of all students. All students experience project-based and highly differentiated learning and assessment. The formative experience is beyond compare.

Ave Maria Catholic School is truly a special place. All staff members are caring and get personal with each student. They make an academic connection with children to differentiate each child's needs. The curriculum challenges all to be the best they can be. The staff goes above and beyond to make academic successes everyday. Children are happy. Teachers are happy. It is a great place.

My children attend ave maria catholic school and I know personally that ave is the best of the best. The standards are high which should be the expectation at a private school but the teachers work to differentiate instruction so that all students can achieve. One can look at assessment results alone to measure the success of this school but ave believes in educating the whole child. Not only are itbs results at least one grade level higher than the grade level students are in but the specials classes are top notch. The student service team has grown to include a school counselor and reading specialist and strong morals and values are taught and modeled with a loving top notch staff. I could not imagine Sending children any where else. I feel truly blessed to have kids in such a nurturing environment whee I know they are growing intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. Thank you ave maria!!!!

My child attended another high Catholic school in the Denver area. She was always a high achiever in all academic areas. When she moved over to Ave Maria she found herself playing catch-up. The teachers there were more than happy to work with her until she was not only caught up but challenged to go even fruther. They have very high standards and are willing to help every student succeed in all areas. I have read some reviews and see that the negative reviews are probably from parents who have had a run in with the administration because they wouldn't meet their hidden agenda demands. The administration stands strong to the mission of the school for all. Those parents who want the school to meet their hidden agenda items need not apply, not do those parents who think they can "buy" their way through school. The administration is top notch!!! I am so glad my child finished off her years at Ave Maria. She is now a strong student in high school and I owe it all to Ave Maria.

I have two children who have attended Ave Maria. One graduated four years ago and has been very well prepared for high school and looking at the future of college next year. My second child started in the junior kindergarten and is currently in sixth grade. I feel that Ave Maria has an incredible academic experience for children. They are able to adapt and challenge to where a student is academically. The curriculum ensures that your child is ready for their future. The faculty and staff are caring and show that as they support the children impeach and every day. You couldn't pick a better school!

As a long time school and parish member, I feel this school needs to change from the top/down. The administrator now controls 100% or the preschool, school and HSA. The school has been voted "best workplace" again because the administrator caters to teachers and fails to recognize that KIDS are her #1 priority. Teachers are allowed to take week long (yes, week long) vacations during the regular school year with their families. Substitutes are weak. Test scores are high because the kids and parents that attend are smart. I have to correct teaching all the time. Administrator just runs interference between parents and teachers. Nothing happens. She keeps around teachers that aren't very smart, but she can control. I have witnessed teacher's disrespecting students, nothing happens when brought to attention of administrator. Some teachers have begun to act entitled. Core knowledge dumbs down traditional curriculum and Spanish program is weak. The administrator puts up a good "holy act" and then ignores and bullies parents. We stay with the hope of a good traditional Catholic education. I hope that the parish priest will step in and help out for the sake of his disheartened flock.

Ave Maria Catholic School is an exceptional school in many ways! Ave Maria is a school with strong academics, but it also fosters an environment that encourages students, staff, and families utilize their God given talents to create a caring, compassionate, and thriving community. Students participate in service activities, Friends of Rachel, prayer and worship. Learning includes differentiated instruction to challenge each child to grow academically strong and feel successful. The school strives to have open communication between students, staff, and parents further supporting the success of the school and community. Ave Maria Catholic school is a true gift that prepares students for academic and personal success, as well as students who are striving to live good and virtuous lives.

My family found Ave Maria after a terrible year in Aurora public schools for my daughter in 3rd grade. I am proud to tell everybody that I know that both of my children attend Ave Maria Catholic School because it is a wonderful, enriching, and academically strong school. We are in our second year of attending Ave, and our children have received nothing but the absolute best education from every teacher at this school. The combined challenging academics and religion that all children receive at Ave is truly priceless.

We are very happy at Ave Maria. The quality of education is outstanding and I know if my children, one in third and one in eighth grade, need any assistance, the staff is always there to help. The administration does a great job of communicating and being available to parents. The families are welcoming and warm. We are thrilled with Ave and are grateful to be a part of this loving, faith filled community.

Administration is just a group of bullies. I thought they represented the values of the Catholic church, far from the truth. My family and I have only encountered deceit and a disregard of humility. Don't be fooled with the ideas of Common Core. The core is just setting the education bar at a lower level so everyone can achieve the minimum. Is that all we want for our children, don't we want more than a subpar education at a private/parochial school price.

Ave Maria Catholic School has been home to my 3 children since 2006. I must say the academics are challenging, however, you have to expect that given that they are a private school. The staff is very friendly, if you think that you or your child are above the rules and are considering Ave Maria, do not enroll your child here, enroll them elsewhere as everyone is held accountable for their actions. Everyone from parents, staff, to students are expected to model Jesus Christ. Most classes are full to capacity, that should speak for itself because if this was not a stellar school than it would be suffering in enrollment. Picking up in carline is difficult, dropping off in the morning is easier. My other complaint is the high tuition, however, they do have financial assistance available. In the end, it is worth every penny if you want your child to be well rounded academically, spiritually, and socially. I would never think of sending my children anywhere else and I live quite far away! I credit Ave Maria as the reason why my children have the tools that they need to succeed both in and out of school!

The school facilities and some teachers are very good, and there is excellent parent participation, however the administrative staff, and especially the principal at this school, are very poor. Funds from fund raising efforts are mismanaged and not spent as directed by the donor, as an example $40,000 was raised for proximity boards in all the classrooms and have not been installed a year later. Test scores remain high because they do not allow low scoring students to enroll. The math program is below average in terms of content. I thought the environment would be nurturing, spiritual and steeped in Catholic tradition. Instead we found it to be very judgmental and arbitrary in terms of how students are handled. On average girls are treated with lenience and the program mostly caters to their learning. Boys are not tolerated well here by the principal and some teachers. Hopefully someday the priest at the parish or someone from the diocese will come to see the light and make the necessary changes.

If I could give this school Zero stars, I would. There are some decent teachers at this school but as other parents have mentioned, the principal at this school is poor at setting an expectations for communication while also being too inefficient and ineffective. She is not a leader. It is the only school my kids have attended where the teachers are arriving and leaving when carline drop off is happening. I do hope the clergy at Ave Maria Catholic Church will finally take action. We need decent Catholic education choices in Douglas County and Ave Maria does not provide what we need. The building is adequate and there are good teachers. But the administration seems to leave parents in the dark and there seems to be no desire for this school to attempt to be excellent.

This school is one of the most unfriendly places for families, odd since it is a school. The admin inacts policies like closed practices for all sports, with NO explanation. You as a parent, are not allowed to monitor what is going on while YOUR child is practicing! They have started renting out the gym to adult league teams during the practice times of the school children. This has forced the kids to go and pay for other places to practice. A second road was created over the summer with the intention of helping with the massive congestion during car line. The problem again, with no explanation, you have to have a child or children in 4th grade and up to use the road/drop off in that location. So if you have 1 child in 4 th grade and another in 2nd, you could go through car line twice, we all have time for that in the morning don't we! You could use the original line for both kids and wait 15mins everyday just to get through. While the new road/drop off is under used because it is off limits to more than half the school. This admin is equally unfriendly and not open to suggestion for improvement in ANY area! All this frustration and you haven't even entered the school.

My child was evaluated for a first grade spot. He has done well in a private kindergarten setting and his teacher feels he is ready for first grade. He had an "assessment" for readiness for first grade (for $150) and we were told he was right at the borderline for readiness with a score of 61 (even though it is only February of his Kindergarten year). We were told that they spoke to his current teacher and everyone was in agreement that he is not ready for first grade, although the teacher told us he would be bored if he had to repeat kindergarten. He was turned down for any spot at the school, including kindergarten which they said was "full". I feel the manner that this was done ( in conflict with his current teacher's opinion) and the $150 charge to be told he cannot attend the school was not in keeping with the spirit of Catholic education. I guess someone who does not meet their "high academic standards" is not welcome at this school. Does not seem to meet the catholic tradition.

Our family has attend Ave for a couple years. Having to move on short notice from out of state, left little time to invetigate schools. Our children have always attended Catholic school. We will not be returning to Ave next year. Most of the problems at this school stem from the administration. They are unprofessional and completely disorganized. Parents are given little information as to the daily activities and running of the school. The information that is given is more often than not, incomplete and at the last minute. Their tution is the highest in the area and Ave has the least to offer. Ave has minimal clubs and activities. Every other week has some sort of fundraising and parents are never told or see where the money goes. The classrooms with computers are out of date or broken. You pay large fees (like for books) at this school on top of the regular tution, yet many classes have NO books. Please take the time and really research the school you plan on going to. Any Catholic school should be getting better reviews than the surrounding public schools. We have been absolutley disappointed!

There is nothing at this school that justifies a tuition let alone one over $5,000. This school has some WONDERFUL teachers and some that have no right working with children. If you are wanting a Catholic education, look elsewhere! There is little to NO faith formation done at this school. There is also an obvious friction between the school and parish. The administration chooses to ignore extensive problems like bullying. Save your money and go to your neighborhood public school, you will have the same experience for free.

I attended Ave Maria for 9 years and in 2010, I continued onto Regis Jesuit after being accepted with distinction. During my time at Ave I made some of the best friends anyone could ask for. Even a year after continuing, we are still close. In addition, Ave prepared me for the academic workload and and the high expectations at Regis. The teachers at Ave are exceptional and their enthusiasm is contagious. The material they taught was challenging without being cumbersome. The uniform code seems strict, but in reality it simplifies mornings and it helps us to look past superficial things like clothing. Overall, my time at Ave Maria was incredible and I wouldn't have traded it for the world.

Our daughter transferred there starting in 6th grade. They had concerns that she wouldn't keep up coming over from the public schools (where she got acceptable grades) and due to the fact that she is dyslexic. She has access to accomodations due to her learning disability, but rarely has to take advantage of them. She has absolutely excelled at Ave Maria, consistently getting straight A's even with their stringent grading scale. It is not without hardwork, though. I don't understand the comments I've read about no homework, as she works very hard in and out of the classroom. It has been a great environment. The girls all get along with no cliques or pettiness. They support each other in athletics, whether they make a good play or a bad one. We're very happy we chose Ave over the public school system for middle school.

My child has attended Ave Maria since 2008. We started Kindergarten there and she is in the second grade now. We have had problems at this school. I feel there is too loose an administration and it runs like a sorority house. The parents of the students are amazing, and keep the school moving forward. But, there is a lack of interest in seeing their students grow. I sent my child to Ave Maria with the hopes of having her in a loving and nurturing environment for education and growth. Ave Maria runs no different than any run of the mill public school. I am transferring my child out of Ave Maria after the end of this school year. We are considering either Trinity Lutheran, or Highland's Ranch Christian.

This school has grown so much since opening 10 years ago. There are a few exceptions, but in general the teachers are outstanding...both from a caring and instructional perspective. The facilities are improving with the construction of a gym. Parent involvement is incredible. Teachers are able to teach because they aren't spending all their time disciplining students. The school also just adopted the Core Knowledge curriculum.

The staff is absolutely fantastic. We have have 5 children in this school and have been there for several years now. The development of our children year over year has been remarkable. We came from another private school and have been impressed with the level of committment from the parents, teachers, staff and the community. We would strongly recommend this school to anyone seeking an educational environment that touches the heart, mind and soul of their children.

Goes well beyond expectations and provides a great community for the whole family. It's a great community because the whole family not only wants to get involved it stays involved. Many thanks to the entire staff for continuing to raise the academic bar. By the way have you seen the commitment going on behind the school? Come on over and take a look. You're going to want to get involved!

Our daughter has been enrolled at Ave Maria since Kindergarten and is getting ready to graduate this year. We have been very satisfied, as a whole, with her education. The commitment of the teachers is outstanding and the parent involvment is amazing. My only disatisfaction has been with the Spanish program -- it really only introduces the students to basic concepts. Overall, Ave Maria is a great place to be!

We had a horrible experience with this school. While there are some good teachers at this school, the principal does not establish high expectations for the staff. They try to pride themselves on high standards but instead just have an accelerated grading system that requires higher scores for letter grades. At the same time, they aren't teaching more or challenging the students on material. We did have an experience with other excellent schools and we're wishing we hadn't given this school a try as it seemed like a wasted year academically for our children. Read many of the other reviews on this website as they also corroborate the poor experience at this school. There could be positive changes with a principal who cares,is engaged with what is happening, communicates on a consistent basis, and holds all teachers accountable for basic expectations. Little to no homework exists.

I love the preschool at AMCS! It is by far the best preschool in the area. The Director and Staff are the best! They are so caring of all the children in the program. They are always there to help a new family or returning family. I would certainly reccomend this preschool over any others in the area.

I have attended Ave since kindergarden and have enjoyed going to school every day. To me, Ave Maria is not just a school, it is a family. When I graduated from Ave this year, I was sad to leave but was confident that I left extremely well prepared for high school. The teachers are amazing and taught me so many things about not just academics, but also about being a kind, religious, well- rounded individual. My peers and the Ave community are caring and I am glad to say that they are my closest friends. Now that i will be attending Regis Jesuit high school next year and am taking several AP courses. I feel prepared and confident that i will continue to grow in academics and my Faith in God.

We are proud of the both the preschool & elementary school @ Ave Maria. We have sent two children through the preschool program & into elementary. Both are learning above average for their age and grade level compared with other parents with children in other schools. The art, music, language and library are fantastic. The teachers and front office are very hospitable. The parents are courteous and supportive of the school. The children have excellent manners and morals. My wife & I are happy to make sacrifices to send our children here.

I hate to say this as a Catholic who believes in parochial education, but don't go anywhere near this school. We had had our child in wonderful Catholic schools before moving to Parker and we were horribly disappointed with AMS. The curriculum is way too accelerated (what a teacher friend of mine called a 'tummy-ache maker' school). The school's culture as a whole is not helpful or family-friendly. For example, our child had 3 uniform combinations required per week. Our teacher that year gave very little lead time information on some rather big projects that were upcoming . The principal and parish priest were very unresponsive. We transferred our child to a local public elementary school and were very pleasantly surprised. We do miss the religious education aspect but the parish's RE program is very, good.

We moved our children to Ave Maria 3 years ago due to DCSD going to a year round track calendar. We were immediately impressed by the welcoming attitude of the school and the staff. This includes the administration as well. Always smiling and extremely helpful. When you walk the halls, you see happy, courteous children. They use their manners, hold the doors open for you, ask if you need help, etc. Try finding that in a public school nowadays! The curriculum is accelerated and taught by experienced teachers. The teacher turnover is very low which is so fantastic to see. The music, art and PE program are all excellent. We are hoping to break ground on a new Gym/Cafeteria soon! Spanish this year is taught using Rosetta Stone and the kids are immersed in it. So much more effective than memorizing words. In a nutshell - a wonderful school!

My child attended the pre-school at this school and we were very dissatisfied with the program and brought our child elsewhere. Our concerns were about the director of the preschool, which were brought to the attention of the principal and priest, but nothing was done about it. The same issues continue to happen.

We moved from the public school system to Ave in the 7th grade and have not regretted a moment of it. The academics are very strong and the middle school program has provided a strong, morally sound community for our child to thrive in. The principal is a straight shooter who does not play favorites with any family regardless of their status, and I find that refreshing. Ave also prepared our child to take the entrance exam for Regis High School. Highly recommend this school.

Our child attended this school for three years before we left. We were highly dissatisfied. The principal and pastor are unreceptive to feedback or reporting of problems, giving nothing more than superficial acknowledgement. After switching schools, we discovered the academics were quite average. The Spanish and gifted and talented programs are undeveloped and weak.

At the beginning of January, we transferred our child from another private school in the area. We have found the academics to be outstanding and the staff is extremely dedicated to their profession. The teachers to go out of their way to make the educational environment challenging yet interesting. We are thrilled with our decision to change schools! Ave Maria is the best private education in the Parker area!

My child is in preschhol. I can honestly say, my daughter really isn't as excited to go to school as she was in her previous school. If this is any indication of the quality of the future of her education, i am not going to continue it there. I also want to mention that in our previous state they had computers for the children to use. Here, the preschoolers have not evn come close to a computer. I really hate to see her move backward instead of with the current times and future. I cannot comment on the k-above grades. Parent involvement is strongly encouraged.

Good strong academics through structured curriculum and good teachers. Students are encouraged to rapidly move forward in all subjects and have a healthy amoung of homework (not too much and not too little, rarely on weekends). My daughter has participated in a choir program with a very gifted piano player and music teacher. This experience has been great. Physical education, art and sports are all done through a volunteer basis. Some other basic extra curricular activities such as brownies, boy scouts exists but are really just getting started. The level of parent involvement is good and many parents spend a lot of time and have much pride in enhancing the experience.
