The band program is EXCELLENT and is expanding to marching. Also, the only middle school where you can perform in a musical. After school program is good, used to be better, but still offers plenty of choices. Highest science scores in the state. Third oldest charter school in Colorado. Early morning math program. Lack of sports, but they have gotten volleyball and soccer, I believe. Lack of some programs that other schools participate in (NAL, MathCounts) but school-wide participation in science fair and history day. One of my children went here from 3rd grade on, and one for just middle school years.
We have found a home at PSAS. This school is well rounded not only in it's curriculum basics but also the student population. Most students are reading by the end of the first semester of Kindergarten and most advance quickly to be reading at much higher grade levels than their own. Academically i couldn't be more pleased and we also love the teachers!
The staff truely care about the students--giving of their time and resources beyond the 'contracted' time. Also, students have a well rounded education that includes Paideia Seminars, fine and performing arts, foreign language, and much more! It is a welcoming school!
