Teacher quality
Principal leadership
Parent involvement
My kids have attended Trinity since preschool. I have seen a lot of changes through the years and I know the teachers and school board are working together to improve school. They hired a new science teacher that does a lot of hands on experiments. All the teachers are truly caring and the class sizes are small enough that a child can get the individual attention he/she needs. When they leave the school not only did they get a great education but they have wonderful study habits and excellent computer skills. My oldest child is in high school now and is excelling due to the skills aquired from Trinity. My youngest is in middle school and has no desire to go to school anywhere else. The school has a parent group called CAPTAINS which has great participation and has done a lot of things for the school. The children not only learn the core classes but religion, memory, computers & choir. They can take band and particiapate in athletics as well. I feel no school is ever perfect but the teachers and school board are working together to try and make changes that will benefit the children in the future.
All I want to know is what is going on at this school?............Where is the Christian values and the staff that know how to run a school?..... I went in for a tour, because I was told this was a great school. The lady that answered the phone was rude and I am not sure if she is the one who gave us a tour, but that lady was pretty rude also. Teaching staff is not friendly and didn't acknowledge us as we went into their classrooms. The principle I never saw and two parents were standing by the gym gossiping. I am very disappointed I actually was hoping to read great things on this website so that I could make a decision. I walked into one classroom and the teacher was on her cell phone what are these parents paying for?......I wish this school luck and I think we will keep looking for a school to enroll our children in for next year.
My kids have attended this school for two years and I am very pleased. Any issues related to unkindness have been immediately addressed by the teachers, when brought to their attention, so our experience has been quite positive. Our children's unique issues have also been addressed by teachers, and my suggestions were respected and implemented. I appreciate the accountability of the school and the homework policy. We are very happy with the school.
I pulled my child out of Trinity and a lot of other parents have done the same thing. The staff and administration does not know who their customers are!! Some of the teachers are on ego-trips and refuse to work with parents to improve curriculum, grading or other issues, and the administration does not hold them accountable. Do not think that investing in a Christian, private-school education at Trinity will result a nurturing environment for your child. Trinity staff and administration is in denial. When they finally wake up to the fact that parents have a choice and should have input, take the initiative to follow-up with families that leave to find out why, and then do some major housekeeping with the teaching staff, they might have a chance at rebuilding their reputation. But word of mouth is killing them as more and more loyal supporters are being burned and moving out... it may already be too late at this point. I know it is for us.
The childcare center may have problems, but the school is on course to close soon (few yrs) because of the board of education and principal's lack of quality leadership. As with any school, there are good teachers and bad ones. Unfortunately the poor ones outnumber the good ones. (Side note---the second grade teacher is an EXCELLENT instructor!) Please think seriously about sending your child to Trinity. No qualified principal lets things happen in his/her school that Trinity's principal has...bullying, parents gossiping and mostly a sense of unrest among the staff and parents. The school is falling apart.
As a parent that had two children attend Trinity I do believe the school is a very good chance to get a great education. My oldest son graduated there and stugled while at Trinity with the education , yet has a 4.0 in high school. He complained how hard it was all the time , I knew it was worth the hard work. I believe they do have a few teachers, the second grade teacher to be spacific, that have cost the school a lot of kids. I tell everyone after second grade it is unbelievable. One teacher I know there has told there friends the same based on one teacher. That is the only negative thing I could say. Family oriented and very supportive. All the people truly care and provide a great education. There are no perfect schools all have something, I believe the education is the most important and it was proven by my childs experience in high school. He received the tools to succeed.
I, along with many parents are very concerned and disappointed on the changes that have taken place at Trinity Childcare & Preschool. You had wonderful administration and staff and someone felt the need to destroy the wonderful direction the program was heading. I have a few friends who have sent their children to Trinity School and have since taken them elsewhere because of the choices the board members have made. You need to OPEN your eyes and see the only people you are really hurting are the children and staff. They won't allow parents to be on the early childhood board but allow family members to work together and run a school! Maybe that is the reason why wonderful, hard working people are gone and friends and family still are working at the center and school. Does anyone follow the ratings on this site? The falling of the school has been happening for years it is evident in the comments. I wish the school and childcare luck and would NOT recommend either one!
Your child will get a "better than public school education" at Trinity. A Christian education is their primary goal and they do that well in the classroom...but, many of the teachers lack in truly caring about the children. Some staff members act as if they are impatiently waiting for retirement and it shows daily in the classroom with yelling, scaring students and treating them unfairly. I would highly recommend sending your children to Trinity if they are going into kindergarten, 6th grade and/or 7th grade. These are the teachers who put their heart and soul into their teaching and students. Beware of Trinity's parental gossip community. Luckily the worst offenders have left the school, but there are still many parents who have nothing better to do than speak ill of people they dont like.
It is nice to see positive comments about Trinity Lutheran School again. Trinity has some positive aspects, most of the K-5th grade teachers are great. Reading math and are better then most. Unfortunately the school may have waited too long for corrective action. It's easy to point the finger at upset or disgruntled parents, that is how you defer from taking responsibility of your actions and poor decision making. Most people don't enjoy being negative or disgruntled unless you give them a reason. Don't give them a reason! You will always have 1 or 2 that will never be satisfied, but not an exodus unless something is wrong. Parent's didn't just make a rash decision in not sending there kids back or to destroy Trinity. Parent's want the best for their children. They wanted to see a willingness, change, improvement, and Trinity to find their way back.Trinity can be a great school again, get back to a Christ centered education and a Christ centered staff and not just the fringe. If the staff truly reflected the love and the gospel of Christ you would see a difference in both students and parents. Issues like bulling, gossip, and negativity would cease. Do unto others. Be the best!
I would like to comment on the wonderful changes I see happening in the childcare and preschool! Some may not agree because they are bias to the previous director and preschool-pre-k teacher. This director knows her stuff! I had an issue and brought it to her attention and she explained the reasons why it had to be a certain way. Of course I didn't want to believe and I wanted to be the one who knows better for the safety of my child and I purchased a copy of rules and regulations for a childcare center. I was SHOCKED! This director gained my respect and I have kept her and the center in my prayers because, people do not like change this a great change if you just got to know her and the amount of knowledge she has. This individual has gone through some rough times and has had some really cruel things said about her. She is a very CHRISTIAN and STRONG women to still be here today wanting to make the changes she has shared with me. I know this first hand because I WAS one of the parents who enjoyed complaining and trying to get under her skin. She is a tough cookie and I thank GOD that he has sent her to us!
As you can see from the reviews, most of the issues are with disgruntled parents who can never be happy...It is good thay have moved on so they can try and destroy the next school they are invoved with. As far as ratings for the school...the quality of the students speak for themselves. Always top notch students with great athletic skills and good character. Good luck with the public school system in Pueblo, ive been there and these parents have no idea what they are in for.
I'be taught @ Trinity for over 15 years. As any school we are filled with humans that have life issues; BUT, in those years we have been represented each one with one to five high school grads that are in the top 5 of their class. Typically, 75 to 80% of our grads represent with a minimum of a silver cord. Normally, it's GOLD with honors! This is only the educational quality represented. There aren't enough words to describe ALL of the other assets Trinity teaches it's students. Just suffice by saying we have a m.ultitude of doctors, engineers, nurses, and even rocket scientist that graduated from our school just since I've been there.
How sad to see the negavive remarks about this school. Usually, negative remarks come from very negavite, half-glass empty people who have nothing better to do than complain! I have a daughter who attended Trinity and now goes to public high school. After attending an open house at the public high school she goes to, I am frightened that she will not be challenged like she was for the last 7 years. She has taken every honors class available as a freshman! Actions speak louder than words. I am aware that most Trinity graduates graduate in the the top 10% of their persepctive high schools ;do the math people! Many parents who are negative about teachers are negative only because they can't see beyond their own agendas, and usually that agenda is all about making their child feel good. I have seen a gossipy group of parents sit in the halls and look for anything to complain about, many of which have pulled their students and put them elsewhere this year, but not without trying to destruct the school in their wake. Glad they are gone...now let's focus on building the school back up to a positive learning environment full of what is most important...sharing the love of Christ.
I am a graduate of Trinity as is my daughter, and my son still attends. I graduated from Central High School, 3rd of 442, my daughter graduated from Pueblo West, 11th of 250. I believe any school is only as good as a parent/student makes it. No school is perfect (welcome to life), and the school board here is making strides to make improvements. What do I think the best thing is about Trinity - Learning how to learn in a Christian atmosphere where kids are safe. What makes Trinity successful and graduate many students who go on to be valedictorians and salutatorians and successful in life? Parental involvement. If you are looking for a school where your child can feel safe and learn in a Christian environment, this is the school for you.
Where do I began. The new year is starting and I wish we could put last year behind us. We lost a terrific Prek/Preschool teacher because the new Director.....thinks she knows everything. Our Preschool/Prek teacher was great, but now we have to deal with all these changes because we have a dictator who thinks she knows how to run a school. Why didn't she stay where she was? Or did they let her go? Cause that's what they need to do here! Let's check the numbers and see how many children are enrolled and while at it check the daycare too. I understand that there has been so many staff and children that have left there, what leadership she has. I'm totally disappointed with this situation enrollying our little ones keeps them at Trinity but when you loose good teachers and staff it makes you scared and not trustworthy of the organization so I have decided to pull my child and enroll them elsewhere. So Thank You board for hiring such a rude uncaring director.
Normally I would not join in rating my child's school, but the last couple of reviews here are quite a bit off base. Unfortunately they are correct in stating that the school has gone down hill this past year. The principal/8th grade teacher is far too passive in regards to parents having problems with staff, general discipline, and in his teaching style (much too simple). The 7th grade teacher teaches literature, bible study, and math. He is the top teacher and most dedicated teacher at this school, an excellent role model, and my kids cannot wait to have him for their teacher. The 5th grade teacher is scary strict-too strict for children of that age. The school board replaced one excellent teacher with an very inexperienced young woman who just wants to be friends with the students and parents. Trinty's science program should improve drastically this year without the program they previously had. Trinity has some major hurdles to overcome to get back to the wonderful all around school it was several years ago. Hopefully this will happen soon.
Ok, if you are reading this site you are going to be subject to a variety of posts by a varitey of parents. Some of these parents are extremely satisfied, some are not. What is the most important thing to remember is that only you can decide what is best for your child. That being said, here is my overview: Your child will learn a lot of things here. The academics are average in comparison to public school. I do see this school falling behind rapidly if changes are not made. There was a wonderful science program that was up and running with a teacher who was always looking to better the kids but she has since left due to a lack of support from the board and the school in general. That I know of, currently the homeroom teachers will be "teaching" science-bad idea.. Math and Language are great for the middle school-your kids will learn a great deal here. History needs imporvement. There is not much for electives unless you like music. For the most part, christian values are taught here but are easily pushed aside when conflice arises. In general students are not held accountable for their actions and are allowed to do as they wish. Some major changes are needed.
Kindergarten and first grade teachers = great and fun! Second and third grade teachers = so-so! Fourth teacher = too young to know how to properly prepare for fifth grade (no accountability for students) Fifth grade teacher = no patience! Middle school Language teacher = wonderful and caring! Middle school math teacher = terrific role-model, excellent teacher! Middle school history teacher = too busy to teach properly! Principal=not interested in doing a proper job
In response to the parent who questioned if the complaints about the school had been taken to the principle or the school board. I would like to inform you that many issues this school year were taken to the principle and after there was no action, the school board was informed. The school board determined that they support the inept principle and they are unwilling to take the necessary action to improve the school. Nothing has changed, the teachers are still bullies and think they are always right. I highly discourage parent from enrolling in this school. If you do , do not be surprised with what you get.
At this time, I am disappointed with the faculty at Trinity. They favor students, break their OWN rules in the handbook, and let teacher's children get away with many things. Though the math and science teacher are excellent, the other teachers in the middle school need to leave ASAP. I will not consider sending my child here again.
