This school did not deserve the rating it got. It is by far one of the worst possible schools you could send your kid to. The students run the school, there is no discipline. The administration would rather turn their heads and pretend the problems aren't there. Kids get caught with drugs on campus and only get a few days of in school suspesion, where they should be expelled. Do your kids a favor, send them to a different school!
I graduated this spring from Ridgway and I had such an amazing experience throughout my years there. The teachers there are so great, each one cares so much about their students and the administration has been AMAZING! The high school councilor helped get every member of the graduating class into college, and one into the Coast Guard. The class received over 1 million dollars in scholarships, for a class of 20!!! I could not have had a better experience here, academically, socially, and in athletics. The students are so accepting and there really are not many groups amongst the student body. There is nothing I would change about my time at RHS!
This school received an 'excellent and improving' rating from the state this year and was ranked #12 among public and private schools of all sizes in Colorado. There are only 87 students, creating small class sizes and individual attention for every student. There is great pride and community amongst the students with little to no cliques and 'groups.' College classes with professors from Mesa State College as well as AP courses get students prepared for college better than I could imagine. I have had three children graduate and go on to college with a relatively easy transition.
