Great place to have your children go to school Good esposure to diversity and fantastic, caring teachers.
Teachers are great and the student:teacher ratio is very low. Wonderful school- our kids are challenged and happy!
Silverthorne Elementary School is a wonderful, diverse, community centered school. I have had children in the school since 1999 - and am continually impressed with the leadership shown by the principal, the since of community that the children are exposed to, and the academic challendges that are available to my children. Until just a couple of years ago, the staff at SVE was a very experienced staff - which to some might mean 'stuck in the dark ages'. However, with our principal and the forward thinking of most of the teachers, their experience really helped them to develop a school where the children can excel! Our music program is outstanding and I am more than pleased with the Spanish and Physical Education program. I highly recommend Silverthorne Elementary - a school where your child will receive a great academic education as well as a real world experience!
Silverthorne Elementary has made great improvements in the last five years, under the leadership of a new principal. The academic programs are under constant review. Their use of literacy blocks ensures every student is receiving instruction that meets his or her educational needs. This school's standardized test scores are improving, which shows the updated curriculum has helped. Students attend music, art, PE, Spanish, or media for one hour each day. After school programs include sports, chess club, and tutoring services. Silverthorne Elementary's PTA is very effective at fundraising and provides classrooms with funds to buy books or attend field trips.
