Stargate Charter School has significant problems on the playground with bullying. There is a significant lack of consistency in the administration (four different Directors in the past five years), and varying quality of teachers across the grades. The homework and project load is significant and often costly. Our kids have yet to have instruction that truly meets their needs; instead, they've been guinea pigs for various instruction models and programs. As a result, our kids' education in core subjects has been fragmented and has considerable gaps (compared to District standards). The support staff has caused some of the worst experiences our kids have had because they lack in common sense and initiative to take care of simple problems. We are considering pulling our kids out of Stargate, after five agonizing years. The school sure isn't what it's advertised to be....

Stargate is a wonderful school. My son has autism yet this school has gone out of it's way to help, and teach. The teachers are excited about what they are doing. They teach with a spiral tech. that gives a child in depth knowledge on the subjects they are learning about. They focus on teaching critical thinking, and do a great job of it. This is my son's 3rd year at this school. I wish I would have found it earlier. The only problem is there is no high school counterpart to this program.

We are in our third year at Stargate and we could not be happier. The teachers have challenged my GT student while providing a loving and nurturing environment. Although some of the children and families can be intense there is an overall community spirit that helps this group of academically gifted students and their families feel at ease about their educational choice. There is a lot of transition due to the demanding homework and the need for constant fundraising for the families but it has been well worth it!

I've been going to Stargate since the third grade. I really really like it there. Being a student, Im not that focussed on the education aspect. I like Stargate because it doesn't have clique problems. Well maybe a couple, but nothing compared to the normal school system. I've actually found really good friends. I was always 'the smart one' at my other schools, but now I found people I can connect with. You can't imagine how cool that is. Stargate is like my home, it's the greatest!

My daughter has been at Stargate for 3 years and She WILL NOT be coming back. My daughter started Kindergarten and it was a wonderful experience! But first and second grade has been a nightmare. Not because of the homework put because of the teachers and the curriculum that is very vague and changes continuously. All the paperwork and promises are for show. It is not a gifted school anymore but the IN place for your child. What is great are the parents that teach the kids at night why the teachers push paperwork at them to keep the look of high standard. Even though my daughter is doing well there we have to go private because my daughter now hates school and she is only 7.

Stargate has challenged my son and broadened his horizons in all areas - not just those he excels in. They have great extra-curricular activities although they lack a little in the sports area. Teachers are very educated and informed about gifted children, curriculum is adapted to your childs learning style and pace. I can't say enough great things about this school - they have truly been a blessing for my son!

My friend's child attends Stargate and he is flourishing. He gets a lot of personal attention. Parent interaction is very high for the school. Parents do need to be aware that lots of daily homework is assigned to the students.

We are new parents at Stargate. Our daughter could succeed at a regular public school, however, we chose the school for our daughter because we believe she needs to be challenged. She loves it and we love it! In addition to her education there are also many opportunities for parents to be involved and extension and enrichment activities for our daughter. Diversity of student population was also of some concern, however, there is diversity and education regarding the respect of all those who are different. We love it and more importantly my daughter loves it.

We've been at Stargate from 2nd thru 5th grades. Many of the teachers are extrodinary, a few aren't. Linda Ciccarelli, the new director has the potential to be a great director. The opportunities to be involved as a parent are one of the reasons we came to Stargate. They were also the only option for my gifted kid who also has a learning disability. They are committeed to every teacher teaching a gifted cirriculum. They are a much needed resource in our district.

We have two children at Stargate, and have been there for 4 years. It has had its ups and downs, particularly with keeping an executive director. However, our children continue to flourish, and to be very challenged. Our motto as a family is: Even an imperfect education at Stargate is better than we would find elsewhere.' No school is perfect, and Stargate manages to provide a high quality education for the students even when faced with other challenges. All in all I am pleased with my children's experiences.

The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the test. The TCAP replaced the CSAP as Colorado's state assessment program effective for the 2011-2012 school year.

The different student groups are identified by the Colorado Department of Education. If there are fewer than 16 students in a particular group, the state doesn't report data for that group.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness.
