I am 34 now with 2 kids. I went to Harris Park as a child. Both of my daughters went to harris park. One of them is finishing 5th grade this year. I would have to agree with above comment about not being toxic it is a toxic marker. My daughter knows of situation and was there and yes he did smell not just once?? so yes it raises question. but how do we as adults know that he was smelling on purpose. Overall harris park gave me the education i needed at that age. I know rating seems low for school but teachers are very supportive tries to help the kids as much as they can, I would highly reccomend this school. As far as High School and jr high I would look in another district. I just dont see the emphasis on academics at those grade levels,
Harris Park elementary's Principal, Cchristopher Benisch is so out of line is suspending an 8 year old for sniffing his shirt after writing on it with a permanent Sharpie. The principal stated that it is dangerous to sniff markers like that and he thought he had a 'teachable moment'. Here's a thought...Get rid of those type of pens!! if there is a danger to the smell of those pens, then perhaps the school is putting young kids like Ethan in danger and be charged accordingly!!
Benisch the principle is outstandingly stupid. he suspended a student for smelling a non-toxic, will not get you high marker. the poison control center said it was safe, this idiot disagreed and suspended the student anyway. you really want your kids in this morons control?
Harris Park encourages parent and grandparent involvement. They have caring teachers and office staff.
