The reviews on this school so far have all been by current parents and teachers. My child attended this school for several years, (but no longer) after being bullied. Staff intervention was ineffectual. Shepherd had a good Pre-K and Kindergarten program, but beware! If you do not eventually become a member of the church, you and your child will be treated poorly. They are extremely stand-offish if you don't attend their church. (They could also teach the Amish a thing or two about "shunning.")

I fully agree with the other reviews- Shepherd of the Valley School has changed our lives and the future for our children. They are a true treasure, if you are reading this, take comfort in knowing you have found the right school for your child.

SVL is truly a place to call home! The Pastor and members of the church welcome you with open arms and the Principal and staff of teachers treat your children as if they are their own. The academic and social atmosphere encourages excellence and cooperation while laying a rock-solid biblical foundation. Our three daughters attend the school and we couldn't be happier with their progress. They are challenged academically, are kept healthy and very active physically, are edified spiritually, and are well adjusted socially. We couldn't possibly be happier! Come and visit the church. Come and tour the school. It will literally change your life!

This school is the best kept secret in Denver. The teachers at Shepherd of the Valley are dedicated to the success of each student. They provide a loving and safe place for the children to excel. I recommend this school to anyone who will listen. We have been at the school for 2 years now and could not be happier. Not only do the teachers help students academically, they also teach character by example and in urging each child to become a responsible and caring individual.

The teachers care for each individual child and look for ways to help them grow academically, socially, and spiritually, and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. If you are looking for a high quality, Christ-centered education for your child, this is the place for you.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
