This school has horrible favoritism. The principle is not a good one very few of the teachers are good and will help your student which isn't many the lunch ladies are the nicest people there. Very few good people there
My 3 children have been attending BEBS for the past 2 years. Good: Great families. My children have made lasting friendships. Excellent Curriculum. My kids are far advanced compared to other kids their age who are attending public school. Broad range of extra-curricular activities and after-school care. A big school feel in a small school. Bad: Favoritism exists. Certain families get preferential treatment. The teachers are ill-equipped and under-experienced in teaching children who aren't "in the box" learners such as those with special needs or learning disabilities. VERY religious, and I don't mean the faithful to God, loving, caring kind. I mean the legalistic, give you detention for your hair touching your ears kind. They have very strict (sometimes ridiculous) rules and they are generally sexist and anti-freedom. Most of the teachers seem to be hell-bent on enforcing rules and erecting their authority and less interested in genuine relationships and teaching in an encouraging atmosphere. If your values match the schools to a T then I am sure you'll be very happy there, but if you are even a tad bit centrist or liberal, I'd find another school.
My child attends BEBS and has since kindergarten (3 years). From a parent's perspecitive this school is amazing. They offer a vast curriculum for all grade levels, they have a staff that is not only committed to the eduation of my child, but to their heart as well thus creating an incredible Christ-centered well rounded school. They are a school that maintains a high level of accountability for their students and that is something we can not be more thankful for. Being a parent, I want order and yes - discipline (if necessary), when my child is not behaving properly. I have never once experienced any feelings of any of the staff not caring for my child, in fact it is quite the opposite. I believe this school goes above and beyond where most schools lack as far as being personally invested in our child and not simply out of a tuition obligation but because they truly care. BEBS has strong roots, and as a parent, I want my child to be educated and fostered in all aspects of their little lives. We are thankful for BEBS, the attention they give to our child, their focus on parent involvement, and overall their love of God and how that love is manifested in their education.
I was unaware of the pricipal change that a lot of you are commenting in previious posts. It seems like the previous comments regarding leadership changes are outdated (I'm writing this in 2013). I really enjoy this school. My son is in his 3rd year. I love the rigid system to keep him in line. I especially love the organization in his 1st grade class. If there is an issue, it would be the school staff could be more loving towards the students. To me, it seems too authoratative and less nurturing. To be a great school, it would have to balance nurturance with authority.
I am very impressed with this school. The quality and standard of education is far beyond what the public schools offer. The curriculum is geared to enhance and promote learning in that the history is in the order of occurence and it builds on previous years studies - that helps a child understand history so much better. They also have a very strong science program. It is refreshing to see that the teachers are passionate about teaching and invested in ensuring that their students grasp the subject matter. Also, unlike some private schools this school is financially attainable for most income levels and most important worth every penny because if you can instill a love of learning at a young age, they will grow up thirsting for knowledge. They have a zero tolerance disciplinary system that is consistent and effective but they are loving at the same time. I can't say enough good things about Beth Eden School.
Our Children have been attending BEBS for many years now. I have seen a couple of bad reviews in here pertaining to what appears to be a change in command some years ago and I remember there were some families that took issue with the changes. But this is to be expected with any new boss. And I can tell you this. First- BEBS is a Godly Christ centered institution. When god is on your side, who can stand against you? And god is on their side ! Your child is safe, learns about the lord, and their focus on Academics shows in the student body. All you have to do is observe the student body. Axiomatic. God Bless BEBS !!
We have sent our kids to BEBS since 2006. Both my children are becoming grounded in their faith, encouraged to think for themselves, offered a wonderful variety of activities (2 School Plays, 2 Sacred Concerts, Hand Bell Choir, Elementary Choir, HS Choir, Band, Orchestra, Voice, Piano, Volleyball, Soccer, etc) to participate in, and exposure to an incredibly talented and experienced teacher staff. While there were growing pains over the last 2 years, the school admin. have worked very closely with parents, and staff to admit mistakes, correct some issues, and commit to growing through the changes. The current school year promises to be a very rewarding one for students and staff alike. While every school has issues, BEBS works diligently to address and resolve them to the satisfaction of all involved. We thought about leaving, but we are glad we didn't!
I love Beth Eden because they have done wonders for my daughter, who is now approaching fourth grade after having attended Beth Eden since first grade. Their staff @ Beth Eden are amazingly loving to their students & most of all, they treat all of their students equally. So far, since my daughter has been attending Beth Eden, she has learned so much about Christ & has truly shown such wisdom in Christ. She does very well academic wise, but most of all, she has learned great Christ-like values of which I would have never fathomed her having in such a short period of time there. I only pray that the Good Lord will enable us to keep her in Beth Eden until she graduates! I love Beth Eden, I could never repay them, (not meaning financially) for what they've done for my daughter. I will always be grateful to the Lord for Beth Eden!! They exceed a five star school, in my opinion!
This school year has been such a blessing in so many ways I do not know exactly where to begin. When I was investigating Beth Eden under difficult circumstances it was wonderful to find everyone extremely kind and helpful in every way. I have been impressed from the start and will always recommend your school to other parents. Every day my son is smiling and happy and knows how much he is loved, and at the end of the dat that is all that matters. I am thankful each day for all of the blessings Beth Eden has brought into our lives. I also wanted to tell you how impressed I am with the qualify of the education, the kindness of the staff, and the beautiful spirit that fills the air.
I also do not like to have to post poor reviews about the school but, we have been attended BE for 6 yrs and it has gone downhill very quickly this year. The teachers have and do treat the children differantly depending whether you are classified a 'good family' There is definitely favoritism among teachers and segregation among students. I am looking for a new school. My child has great potential and I don't think he/she can acheive high standards here. It is obvious the teachers are working against the admin. However there are a few teachers that should have thrown in the hat a long time ago regardless of whether they were male or female.
We have been involved with this school since 1994. During those years, there have been many leadership changes. What has been consistent is the school's diligence in pursuing academic excellence. This year, 1/3 of the graduating class has been accepted at a prestigious Colorado university and most of the others will pursue degrees elsewhere. We feel that Beth Eden is the only choice for our family and strongly encourage other parents to visit and pray about the possibility of enrolling their children.
This school is in transition. The new principal has specific plans - altho the benefit of those plans are not obvious to all. Some new decisions seem random at best. The school does excel at academics, and the fine arts are ok (not outstanding), but freedom and personal expression are not appreciated here, making students ill-prepared for decisions they'll need to make when someone isn't there telling them what to do and how to do it. As a parent, I have personally witnessed poor decisions by the principal and sometimes even inaction in very questionable, even serious, circumstances. I've also witnessed unfair and uncaring treatment of students and teachers - many of whom won't be returning next year.
This school is currently falling apart. It appears that a large number of teachers will be leaving this year. I would avoid this school until there is a change in leadership. It is very disappointing as we have had our children in the school for years and were very happy. It seems that the change in school leadership along with an increased rigidity from the Church leadership has destroyed morale and has made the school an unpleasant place to be. It is stunning to see how quickly things have changed here.
We absolutely love this school! Our children were floudering in the public school system, receiving a sub-standard education from disengaged teachers. We have been at Beth Eden for a few years and couldn't be more pleased with the administration, education and teachers. I only wish that we had made the change earlier. Our children are thriving in this environment. The principal is caring and I would completely disagree with the statement about the roles of women in the school being minimized. The teachers, male and female, are treated with respect and are cherished as the passionate, gifted individuals that they are. The students receive character training and the curriculum is outstanding. It is actaully important to the teachers that each student comprehends the material and they taylor the teaching to the different learning-styles that exist in a classroom. We love it!
This used to be a wonderful, caring school with dedicated teachers who went above and beyond expectations. The academics were good and it was a fun, family-oriented place to attend school. The academics remain, and there are some truly gifted, loving teachers and coaches, but the new principal (beginning with the 07-08 school year) is rigid, inexperienced, ineffective, unaccountable, and doesn't project compassion or love for children. The current 08-09 year has been more negatively impacted than the 07-08 year. Some teachers and staff, unfortunately, are reflecting his attitude. The illogical and steamroller-style changes of this administration are so widespread, disheartening and troublesome that many associated with the school are rethinking the choices they have. We've attended for many years and, sadly, I can no longer recommend this school. We miss you Mr. C and family.
I really hate to post a bad review, because until recently it has been a super school that our kids loved. The change in principal has meant that women are being quietly moved out of leadership at the school, and a very backwards message is being preached. New programs for 'boys only' have been introduced and the message has been made very clear that girls and women don't count as much in God's eyes as men. It is very sad to see young girls that were on fire for Christ before, being discouraged and shamed. It is sad that female staff members who have worked there with great respect for many years are being asked to step down from any duties that put them in authority over any males. We think it sends a terrible message to both girls and boys, and we have since left. Be very careful and pray.
Beth Eden is a wonderful school. Thanks to the education my son recieved he is confident in his faith, and his abilities to attain his goals. The teachers helped to build his self estem so that he knows who he is in Christ and through that is able to achieve many things. Our daughter is in the k5 program and loves going to school. Her education compared to our neighbors children is heads & tails above the public schools. BE teaches kids to read by phonics not sight reading. I never feel like my kids are test animals to try a new teaching method. BE sticks to the fundimentals and our kids benefit from it. I only wish I would have known about it for our oldest daughter who had to go through public schools. The education received for the cost is increadible. I was spending more in day care.
My children went to this school in kinder-2nd then were transfered to a public school. I am doing everything to get all three of my children back into the school. My oldest is in 6th grade at Beth Eden and I can't say enough about how wonderful it is to have Mr. K in his life. What a wonderful person all the way around and excellent teacher!
Excellent Christian based -- wonderful 4 yr old and 5 yr old kindergarten programs. Heavy emphasis music, especially strings. Not a lot of sports here, but academics very strong.
I am extremely impressed with this school and the quality of education my children have received. At first I was a little concerned about just what curriculum they would be learning from, being Baptist based, but I am so happy about what my kids are learning; strong education in all areas including music and art (which have been left behind in every other school) but also in terms of ethics, community, leadership... I can't say enough about how pleased I am to be a part of this great school.
