How to capture the essence of Foothills? A school that goes to the heart of learning, with real, hands-on participation in every subject area; a school where kids are truly, deeply respected and thus learn to respect their own perceptions and ways in the world; a school where kids cry at the end of the year in anticipation of three months away from their community; a school that presents an hour-long Shakespeare play in 3/4 grades that is perpetually named as a life-changing experience by the kids. I could go on and on, but my two kids are forever changed because of the nurturing, love, respect and skills they got at FA. Many years after the fact, they still talk about it as a peak childhood experience and my wife and I still congratulate each other on our decision to put our money toward the greatest gift we could give them.

Foothills maintains a rigorous academic program that is unique in the Denver area and provides a well-rounded education to prepare a child for ongoing learning both in classrooms and beyond. At Foothills my son has learned to read fluently, to think logically, to be inquisitive and engaged in his world, and to have confidence in his abilities and skills. Now he is ready to start second grade. I can t wait to see what is next for him and I can t imagine a school that would give him a better head start on the rest of his life.

We are returning to Foothills after a year spent elsewhere. Having experienced another school made us truly appreciate the advantages of a Foothills education. The Outings program is excellent and unique to Foothills. The inclusive culture in the classroom truly works here, and bullying is almost non-existant. The academics at FA are definitely more rigorous, and presented in a more individualized way that challenges children to think for themselves. Glad to be back!

I would just like to say that we feel Foothills Academy is the best place our children could possibly be. They have a very strong focus on developing critical thinking skills and learning skills as well as strong communication skills. They are very community oriented and create students who become great citizens to the world.

My kids have attended Foothills Academy for nine years. While I was initially impressed, over time I have become absolutely amazed at the richness of the education they receive. Subjects are taught in such a way that kids make connections between them. My boys have learned how to problem solve, research, form their own ideas and opinions and to articulate them. They are also learning the skills so critical to our future -- working with others, matching actions to values and principles, and valueing and utilizing our differences as individuals. The emphasis on finding their strengths as individuals as well as approaching subjects in a variety of ways let's each learner succeed and find internal motivation. I am so grateful that my kids have had this opportunity and feel that their lives will be different for it.

This will be our oldest child's fifth year at Foothills Academy, and now our youngest also attends the school. The overall experience has been exceptional, for our children and for us as parents. All of the teachers we've encountered are exemplary, both for their own education and experience, and for their ability to make learning a positive and engaging experience. The school's curriculum fits the needs of our two energetic and curious children, strong individuals who are eager to learn new things every day. The great benefit of a smaller, independent school is that our kids basically know all of the other children in all levels of the school, and in general there exists a feeling of community between students, parents, faculty and administration. It's been an excellent experience for us and our children. We highly recommend the school to other families.

This school is amazing and I fell in love with it the first time I visited. My kids have both been there since kindergarten and I believe they are receiving a superior education and opportunities that you could not find anywhere else.

I started working in the school's administration recently and find Foothills Academy to be a school true to its mission. I have worked at other independent schools and could tell right away that the Foothills program is one of quality. In addition, I love interacting with the students! They are very engaged and delightful. Come for a visit.

FA is a Pre-K through 12 school. The academics and the way they teach inspires the children to want to continue their excitement as well as love of learning. The academic education is punctuated with experiential instruction. Thus the children use the knowledge they are taught in a meaningful way. All learning is connected. Outings are an essential piece of every child's education. The children are in a nurturing environment that also supports their social and emotional needs.
