I have a diagnosed learning disability. While I attended Columbine my teacher, Mrs. Danin, tried many tactics to get me to pay more attention, and stop forgetting things. Even though I have short term memory problems, she would not repeat directions or allow the other students to help me with problems. At one point, she had me stand up in front of the class to explain why I failed. She also told me that I was just not capable of learning. It was a horrible experience that I hope no other child has to go through.
Columbine is such a wonderful school - we've had only positive experiences since my children started there almost three years ago!
Columbine excells from the principal down to teachers and the tremendous parent involvement. Isuues seem to be addressed immediately always with a smile and kindness as well as a listening ear. this school seems to blend as a family of teachers, paraeducators, office staff , parents and of course the children. My children always come home with smiles on their faces and seem to be challenged academically.
This is a wonderful school! The leadership is excellent, the principal really listens to any and all concerns/comments. They care about the students and provide a fun, well-balanced environment. Beautiful town, great school. Wish we weren't moving across the country.
Columbine is a great school! They connect to kids.
Columbine Elem. is an incredible school! The staff is genuinely concerned for each students well-being. They offer exceptional extracurricular activities and the students are all happy to be at school! We have been so fortunate to have our two daughters attend and are confident in highly recommending Columbine. Hats off to the staff - you are wonderful!
Some of the teachers have proven to be exceptional, and there are some extracurriculum activities available. However, unless the parents are planning on being extremely active in promoting all events, they should not expect most of the programs to thrive or even continue. Parents should be encouraged to advise their children to insist on parent/ guardian presence before allowing their child to be interrogated by administration, regardless of the 'offense,' or parents may well find their children being made to feel shamed for the slightest transgressions.
