Are standardized test scores important? Why?

The standardized testing is a waste if time and money. The only tests that colleges look at are the ACT and SAT. With standardized testing, learning in class rooms is dumbed down from the potential that the students hold so they learn the test

I think there are many more ways a school or teacher can be evaluated outside of standardized testing. I believe these tests are causing unnecessary stress on teacher and it filters down to students.

I believe they are beneficial for marking academic progress however, I don't believe they show ALL areas of progress.

Yes bcs I will not send my child to a below avg school. I have moved so my son can attend a good school even if it's a magnet school. There's nothing wrong with having data bcs no one will tell you the truth about the school in your area.

No...because all they do is teach the kids to take a test not actually do real work in the real world.

Also, test score data is used to assess the gaps in education. They drive the instruction.

Absolutely! I would much rather have my children attend a school with high scores than low scores. It tells you a lot about the priorities of the school and that the community values education.

No. Kids do not come standardized, they shouldn't be judged that way. My child does not always do well on standardized test, but knocks it out of the park with any presentation, report, or special project.
