I have been very disappointed in the major lack of communication. My child is in preschool and I get no updates regarding her progress, what she is learning, how she is adjusting, etc. There is a total disconnect.
Our family relocated to Brooklyn one year ago with four children, three of which are of school age.We moved to the town specifically for the excellent speech program for our daughter. Our two older children were in a local private school. We had absolutely no itentions of moving the older children from their school, but once we saw all that Brooklyn Elementary had to offer,we were sold. The staff and administration are more than welcoming! We have found that the teachers are genuinely concerned not only about your child's academic achievements but their overall well being. We had previously sent our older children to a Catholic school to reinforce our home teachings of treating others kindly and fairly.Oddly,we found the school lacking. Brooklyn not only teaches by example, but has a program to reinforce the concept. We are thrilled with Brooklyn Elementary!
I love Brooklyn School, it has been nothing but great to my son who is in 3rd grade. He loves being in the school and he feels safe there. All the teachers have always been willing to talk with me and if I need to speak to one of them I never have a problem doing so. My son is in an advanced art class, which in doing research, have found that alot of the schools around here don't have. It is a small school so there is more one on one contact and the students get more attention. I would recommend Brooklyn Elementary to anyone who is interested in sending their child or children there.
I moved to Brooklyn because of the school system. I have been nothing but disappointed in it. They have a lack of communication between the parent and teacher. As a parent I have been the one to contact the teacher about problems I have noticed not the other way around. Accountability has also been a problem. The principal doesn't keep her staff accountable for communicating. I have 3 children in the school system and have had problems with two of them in these areas. Both of my children have special programs (reading and math) that they are involved in. This has been the second year that no communication has been done on the teachers part. I have always had to ask first.
