Absolutely the best school around!!! My oldest son participated in the 1-2 combo class and I have to say it was very helpful to have the same teachers for two years in a row. It gave him a sense of belonging and he learned to mentor the younger students when he was in the 2nd grade. My younger son who is currently in the 2nd grade and a special needs child has ALWAYS received the care and guidance needed to make his time at CES rewarding. I have had excellent communication with administration and teachers for the past 5 years. Any concerns I ever had were always taken into consideration.

I am writing as a parent in response to the review dated 3/15/11 to clarify the misinformation regarding "40+ students in 1 adjoining room". Colchester Elementary School is pre-k through 2nd grade. The "huge class size" must be referencing some of the team based classrooms. There are 3 of these class types. There are two "1-2 Combos" which combine a first and second grade class. There are 2 teachers, *2* adjoining classrooms with the same teacher to student ratio as a typical classroom (approx 1:20). The children in these classrooms benefit by having the same two teachers for first and second grade. There is also a 1-1 class which is 2 first grade classes with a team of two teachers and again there are 2 classrooms. The remaining classes are standard classes. Parents have the option to have their child placed in one of these classrooms or a standard classroom. Obviously this parent has had other issues with the school, but the information provided in the review regarding the class sizes is simply untrue. There are many wonderful, caring teachers and staff at CES.

the teachers and staff in this school are judgmental, and don't care to help children that are special needs. The school is un-communicative and there is little if any communication between parents and teachers. The curriculum is lacking, and due to huge class size (40+ students in 1 adjoining room) children inevitably fall behind. They mix the first and second graders in one class room to cut down on staffing, the only one this helps is the people writing the teachers paychecks(less teachers means less payroll) unfortunetly my poor child has wasted a whole year at this school and has left with a poor excuse for an education. Tax money is not utilised well in this town. How many towns do you know that have a: CES elementary(k-2) Jack jecter mid elementary(3-5) middle (6-8) bacon academy(9-12) this school system is undoubtebly the poorest disorganized mess, there are to many students and not enough GOOD teachers

I love the Faculty, the school safety/security features. I love that fact i can trust the school with my child. My son loves it so much he does not want to leave!
