Memorial School has been instrumental in my son's development. My son has special needs and the school has worked tirelessly over the past 3 years with great results. The staff is knowledgeable, caring and follows through.
Since we moved out of state in 2004 and have had our children in a couple of different schools, nothing compares to the education of Memorial. East Hampton CT you do not know how lucky you are both for the regular education program and the special education program. We still miss you all. Debbie Relyea
Our daughter has always been in a small private Christian school up until this year. She has now entered the 3rd grade and while we were a little apprehensive about her going to a public school, I have to say that Memorial Elementary has been fantastic. The teachers and staff are wonderful to work with and very caring. They really take care of the children and make them feel safe and give us the peace of mind as parents to know the children are in a good place. My daughter actually looks forward to going to school as the teachers make the curriculum fun! I would highly recommend this school. Sincerely, Desiree
My 5yr old son attends Memorial School. I am amazed at the quality of the programing available for the kindergarten class. The have music, gym, art and go the library every week. His teacher is fantastic, she keeps me up to date on his progress and helps me with suggestions on how to help him. I also help out in the classroom, so I get to see how the kids interact with one another and it's great. One of the reason's why we moved from Naugatuck to East Hampton was for the great school system. Also the town provides tons of activities for the kids all year long, for all different age levels.
I am increasingly concerned about the ratio of student to teacher in this school. My child's 2nd grade teacher had less interest in teaching than I expected. We rarely recieved homework and/or correspondence. The ratio of student to teacher is much above the state average. We are also spending less than the state average on each student which is a concerning to me. Otherwise we have been satisfied with the overall education and have been pleasantly recieved.
I love this school the staff is so friendly and welcoming. The children also get a great education.
