Mckinley Elementary School is great! Principal Mrs. Pearson cares about the kids in that school, each morning she guides the traffic to make sure the kids are safe when coming to this school. The teachers are wonderful to name few Mrs. Scholz, Ms. Greco, Mrs. Barbosa and Mrs. Martin and many more!!

This school is absolutely amazing!!! First let me say that I NEVER write reviews for anything. I had to share my experience on how great this school is! I have two children, one in pre-k and the other entering 3rd grade. My soon-to-be 3rd grader has flourished at Mckinley! The teachers are there because they care, not because they just want a paycheck every week. The teachers are fully involved in the children and the children's success. They make the kids WANT to succeed and excel. Just to give you an example on how much the teachers care, my son just received a letter from his 2nd grade teacher this week asking how his Summer was! What other school will you get a teacher taking time out of their Summer to send their students from the previous year a letter? In addition, all teachers participate in the school activities, concerts, fundraisers, volunteering throughout the year. As a child I attended school in Greenwich and the education does not compare to Mckinley. This school is absolutely amazing and any child would be lucky to attend!

This school takes such a beating because of its diversity. I live in Fairfield, CT, and this is a town with hidden racism. So, this school is consistently targeted. Our children currently attend McKinley, and it is probably one of the most well structured, organized, and supportive environments you'd ever want your children to experience. The people in the actual town however, extremely snobby, ill mannered, and basically just not very nice people. So, you have to weed yourself through the mire of racism that is an underlying quality of Fairfield, CT in general. Outside of that, the teachers are fantastic! No matter what any one may write here, I have never had any issue with the teachers, principle, or overall structure of McKinley's curriculum. The state I have issues with regarding the curriculum, but not McKinley. Honestly, I can not rave enough about the quality of this school. It's just too bad that it's located in such a spiteful and stubborn place like Fairfield. Or, I should correct myself, thank God it IS located in Fairfield, or else my lovely children would have to endure the racism from the towns narrow-minded offspring.

My 3 children currently go to this school and our family loves it. The teachers are incredibly involved in the classroom, but also in extracurricular activities. They will often attend or volunteer for PTA events, or attend their students' sporting events and dance recitals. The music & drama programs are incredible and the art program is part of the American Mural Project. The students' artwork is displayed on every inch of wall space. The PTA hosts math nights, read ins, author visits, cultural entertainers, and even subsidizes field trips. The best part of the school is its diversity. The students are from more than 30 countries, and the students focus more on similarities than differences. The parents are also very involved. It's a very special place.

My school is a great place to be. My children have all had great experiences at McKinley. The PTA is very involved, adding enrichment programs for the children. It's like being part of a large extended family.

McKinley is a school that is not only like a second family to those who are part of it, but boasts top-notch educators who challenge the children to think out of the proverbial box and use their creative thought processes. This school excels in academics on many levels and has teachers who go above and beyond for its students. I am proud to be a McKinley parent and that my children are learning from people who teach them to be book smart and how to apply their learnings to every day life.

McKinley Elementary School is the best kept secret in town. Realtors tend to steer prospective buyers away from the district based on hearsay, demographics, and lower test scores. There's more to McKinley than the numbers show. It was recently re-built and is one of the few air conditioned school buildings in town. The PTA is active and welcomes anyone wanting to help make the school an even better place. Parents who opt-in from other schools are always impressed with the PTA funds support cultural arts programs, subsidize field trips, and provide teacher grants for classrooms. The real wealth of the school is its diversity. Our kids don't describe other children by the color of their skin or their ethnicity- they are all just kids. The families at McKinley include new immigrants from all over the world, giving kids a global perspective. The main hallway, know as 'Broadway', has flags from 40+ countries displayed in a reflection of the origins of the student population. However, test scores are impacted due to many English language learners. Every student MUST take the test, regardless of whether they understand the questions or not and the scores count toward the average.

We wanted to send our daughter to this school bc my husband went there. She loves it but they have three or four recesses a day, watch nick jr shows everyday and have ants in the closet were they keep the rest mats. Other then that the teachers are delightful!

I am also a proud parent of a child at Mckinley, we are moving this month out of district, and are hoping that the board of Ed will grant us the option to stay at Mckinley. We would be devastated to leave this great school!

I am a parent of a child in McKinley School. I can not be more thrilled with the school, and especially it's teachers and students. I absolutely love the diversity! The only thing I wish they would do, is stop this issue with saying that McKinley School is out of balance because it has more minorities than any other school. What's the problem? There are other schools in Fairfield that are all white, but you don't here anything about their being an imbalance there. Unfortunately there is a certain level of racism that comes with Fairfield. The Caucasian people of Fairfield simply can not be trusted. Especially those that live on the beach side of Fairfield. I hesitate saying that as I don't want to come off as being narrow-minded. But facts are facts. And the people that live on the beach side, make no illusions about their feelings.

McKinley School is Fairfield's best kept secret. This school not only has the best brand new building, but the best resources, teachers, principal, and staff. I'm very impressed with everything. After seeing some of the other schools, I am blessed to have my children attend this school.

The quality and caliber of the teachers and administrators, specifically, their compassion and commitment to providing the most nurturing learning environment. McKinley is a strong example to other schools of how important it is to nurture a child's spirit and provide a wide variety of opportunities for growth.

I am writing this only because I am contemplating a move & see very few reviews of the areas I am looking at. So I thought it would be good for other parents who are looking into sending their children to McKinley if I wrote a review. My son attended McKinley since the new school opened, and just recently graduated. I am very extremely happy with most everything at McK. 1 - Staff is approachable & available (phone/email) - Head Administration available 2 - Wealth of after school programs - paid after school day care (Kids Place), or weekly programs-including Reading Club, Drama Club, Homework Club, Cross Country, and Mentoring, which is sponsored by Wakeman Boys & Girls Club, 3-Tremendous PTA, with super parent involvement 4-Vast cultural diversity 5-Tremendous cultural arts opportunities because Principal goes out and finds ways for the children to participate in great programs (i.e., Ballet, Plays, Musical Performances, etc). A great school!

Hello. I personally wrote to and spoke with our daughter's teacher in the beginning of the school year regarding the amount and type of homework she gets on a daily basis. Since then, there is no doubt our daughter is happily challenged and given opportunities to flourish. We are also very involved parents, which we believe makes all the difference. Our daughter was recently honored with the McKinley Outstanding Citizenship Award in her 2nd grade class - one of five recipients in her grade, and we couldn't be more proud!

Regarding the April 9, 2008 post, all the Faifield elementary schools read, read, read. Many students do not bring home homework, as teachers give time in class to complete the 'class' work that was not finished. In addition, there is the Board of Education's 'lets not overwork our children and cause tears' syndrome. Most teachers show parents the child's work only at conferences unless there is some concern. At this point teachers DO contact the parents. However, parents must be active too! This is an incredible school and is not below any other school in town! By-the-way, elementary grades are VERY subjective. It all changes once they are out. Thanks.

Teachers are terrible ! They are not sending homework to students. They just letting the students to read and read. Are teachers lazy? And secondly they don't show the quiz result. How could a parent know that his or her child is doing well? It seems to me the teachers of this school is just guessing or estimating the grade on the report card.
