We transferred our oldest daughter from public school to CSH because she needed more. She needed caring teachers, smaller class size, kinder girls, challenging courses and to be surrounded by people with the same morals. She is excelling and we Thank God everyday for finding this very special place. Our other daughter is now at CSH and is thriving as well. Well worth the money.
This school looks good on paper (fantastic marketing but don't fall for it and waste your money like we did!). If you have an intelligent daughter then the curriculum and the teachers will not progress or challenge your child. They would rather deal with the less challenged children rather than push the bright ones forward. The teachers find the brighter children a nuisance divert them to non-educational studies like beauty and hair styling etc. Not a school if you want to send your child to a top rated university like Harvard or MIT. It is a good school if your daughters want to go to high school and then get married to a rich husband, and have children!
As a product of 12 years of parochial school myself 30+ years ago, when a "though shalt not" mentality was one of the main themes within our academic environment. I was tentative about enrolling my daughter. She began first grade this year, and immediately we were embraced, not only my daughter, but our entire family, as members of a community. My daughter had a bit of catching up to do, as even in first grade, the academics encourage them to dig a bit deeper. However, the nurturing provided by her teachers and the administrators made me realize how lucky we were to find a place such as CSH. Many things have changed since my time at Catholic school, they now study theology, her class is wonderfully diverse, and the girls are encouraged to be strong, young women. They are also constantly reminded that they are part of a community, both within the world and the school, and giving back is a big focus. As to the poster who claimed it is the "right school, for the right" girl, the young women I know who are in their final years are nothing short of exceptional, self-possessed, but not arrogant. We are very fortunate to be at CSH.
We chose CSH for it's strong values which were well defined in the Goals and Criteria. Unfortunately we realized, the Goals and Criteria are only set for parents and students to follow. Administrators are arrogant and judgemental. The school proclaims to be invested in the"sake of a single child", looks good on paper, too bad it isn't true. Teachers are generally kind, however, they are not progessive. Overall academics are weak. CSH is a "glorified" parochial school. Save your money, wish we had!
I have been attending CSH for almost 6 years now and I am happy with my school experience. The teachers are very caring, and encourage questions and any confusion you may have to expand your knowledge. My classmates are friendly, and being only in middle school, I feel that I will be friends with some of these girls for a very long time. People are very confident (in a good way) and know how to be who they are, and not fall under peer pressure or pretend to be someone they're not. The school opens your mind to your greatest potential, and pushes you to try your best, without putting on too much pressure. The atmosphere as the school is very open and welcoming, and whenever you enter the school, you feel as if you are home, not at school. Whenever I come to school in the morning, I am prepared for another fantastic day at CSH. I would definitely recommend sending your daughter(s) here when applying to schools, as I can almost assure that their time spend here will not be of waste.
Prior notation obviously written by one of the elitist, spoiled, unemployable women masquarding as a mother- only downfall of school. Excellent teachers, scholarly, caring and devoted to any tenacious, hard working girls.
This is a wonderful place for the RIGHT girl. The RIGHT girl is catholic, of average intelligence, compliant, and willing to sit still at a desk and do worksheets. There is NO adaptation for students of above average intelligence, and with the school's commitment to diversity, there are many girls with learning issues. The bright girls are forced to sit and listen as the teachers drone on to teach the girls who have trouble catching on (and there are many of these). The all girl environment leads to some serious social difficulties, while the faculty struggle to keep things on an even keel, many girls who do not conform to the teary girl model are often left to fend for themselves. A great school for the RIGHT girl..there are just not as many of them as are forced into the doors.
My daughter has attended CSH for 3 yrs now. We are considering moving her to another school (will wait one more year). Our daughter would like more challenging work, but we were told it would not be fair to the other girls. No the tuition is not an issue.
Sacred Heart is an excellent place for any student as it offers superb academics, athletics, and social environment that is conducive for a successful education. I loved every second there and now attend Princeton, something I wouldn't be able to do without the help of my teachers and peers. Thanks Ms. Casey!

Sacred Heart was a great place for my daughter and I have absolutely no regrets about it. Overall, five well-deserved stars.
I've been to ALOT of schools over the years and now I'm back at CSH. I have diabetes and have missed alot of school thrpughout my life, and CSH was the only school that has shown me compassion and acceptance. They accomodated me when I was sick and waived the work when I was in the hospital. the girls were never mean to me, and I was greeted with hugs when I saw them. It was too easy at the other schools to be made fun of for it, or for me to get bad grades because I constantly missed class because of something that was out of my control. And even though the highschool is really hard, when you get to college, its so easy because you learned time management. Overall, CSH is a GREAT school and I implore you to look at it.
I have been going to Sacred Heart for 10 years now, and I am leaving next year. My years there have been very worth while and have receved a solid foundaton of education. Definitely, I had a better experence then I would of had at public school. The admissions thing is a little screwed up. There are people gong here who are certainly not up to the academic standard which hurts the ovarall class. The academcs are tradtional for a local private school, but certainly not nearly the best in the nation. An A at Sacred Heart is more like a B- at the top schools in the country. Im gong to go out and say t, the athletcs are horrible. The field space is lacking and the teams are crammed into very small practce facilities. None of the varsty teams are compettve at all, which is a shame. thanks
I'm not sure what that other person was talking about, but this school is a great school. I go there and I am in the seventh grade. The work load is a little intense, but that will only help me in the years to come. We are one big community, and I know everyone in my grade and we are like sisters. In the mornings, we all fit in one classroom comfortably and even if it means sitting on someone else's lap, we all feel at home. The classes are amazing. Every one of them is interesting and fun. The teachers encourage your hardest efforts because there is no grade inflation. The 5 goals play a large part in our school. The values that the school instill in us is appreciable to the greatest extents. This is a school where your history teacher will give you a ride home.
I spent eight years at the Convent and graduated just last year; I now attend a top 20 American university and I could not be more prepared! My teachers at CSH were people who loved what they did and it came across in the classroom. They were always willing to provide extra help if you needed it! The small grade and class sizes fostered close relationships between students of all ages: I had friends in every high school class and was extremely close with my grade in general. I love my time at CSH and I would never want to spend it anywhere else!
Terrible. Do not send your child(ren) here. Although the teachers are amazing at what they do, the hardly tend to the specific needs of a child. When the staff tries to solve problems they only make them worse. Although it is a catholic school with 'The 5 Goals and Criteria' girls rarely fallow these goals. For me they are simply a way to lure parents into a terrible environment. The girls are completely matirealistic and unwelcoming to new students. Hope this helps with your school choice.
I've been there for 10 years now, and it is a fantastic school. The thing that seperates it from all of the other schools is the values it instills in each of us students. Not necesarily religious values, but moral principles that are needed to make us better people. i can confidently say I am a better person because of CSH!
I actually have attended CSH for 8 years now and I have had an amazing time. I have made incredible friendships and really have a sisterhood with each girl in my grade. There is a fair amount of work required for the school and a very high standard that will prepare you for anything you wish to accomplish later in life. But one must be willing to put the time and effort in to excel at CSH.
I love Sacred Heart! I started as a freshman in the Upper School last year and I have so far had an amazing experience! The girls are all so warm and friendly and very welcoming. CSH is different from any other high school because we are all like one huge family. My classmates are all friends with each other and we rarely, if ever, have issues (which is saying something for an all-girls school). On top of all of that, they provide us with a superb education. I have friends come back from Ivy League universities and tell me how well CSH prepared them for the work and courseload of college. I feel blessed and lucky to be able ot attend such an amazing school as Sacred Heart!
