We are a second generation GCS family with over 26 years of experience with the school. Since 2009 our new Principal, Mrs. Patrice Kopas, has brought outstanding leadership to the staff and to a renewed faculty body. We can afford the most expensive schools in the area, but have found that GCS provides the same quality education in a more well rounded environment. The religious aspect is present but not stiffling, children do attend mass together and learn catholic prayers, but they are mostly taught the importance of being kind and having faith. While children learn how to be respectful of others, they are also encouraged to express their individuality. Parents take a very active role within the school, there is a true sense of inclusion and community. The campus is unparallel and there is currently a millionaire initiative to upgrade buildings and facilities (which are already well maintained). The excellent Blue Ribbon academic experience stars with the Little Angels and Pre-K programs, which are outstanding. Don't be discouraged by the wait lists!.
GCS is an amazing place that educates the whole child. There is a loving nurturing atmosphere that pervades the whole school. Teachers really care about your children and go the extra mile. Christian values and morals are an integral part of the school and children are encouraged to become the best person they can be and treat each other with respect. We have been at the school for 11 years and absolutely love it. The curriculum is rigorous and challenging. My oldest child graduated last year and was not only accepted in to all his first choice schools- he was also placed in honors sophomore level courses and the school he chose. I can not say enough good things about GCS and the quality of the teachers, students and the parent body.
GCS is mediocre school. Curriculum is out dated and lacks interest. Teachers teach the mediocre curriculum. There is a lot of bullying that goes on at the school. Make sure that you attend a sporting event so that you can see how the coaches treat the kids.
GCS is an average school for an average child. Nothing more, nothing less. It is definitely not worth the tuition if you are in a good public school district. Do not waste your money. They do not educate a child to think outside the box or encourage a child to be creative and individualistic. The lower classes are overcrowded with very little resources. Some involved parents and nice kids but they can not change the stagnant mediocre curriculum.
GCS is wonderful. The faith, values, and academic rigor create an environemnt of enrichment and the love of learning. My children are thriving and the middle school has far exceeded my expectation. The faculty is caring and supportive. The integrated approach is outstanding. The daily team meetings across grades, mean all teachers know your child. We love this school and we are thankful for what it has taught our children and us.
BEST SCHOOL. Its a triple play for values: Family School & Church. My son graduated a few years ago (started in K) and my daughter has attended since Pre-K. I cannot speak highly enough of the school and the staff & teachers. If I could rank double stars I would. There is no comparison in morals & values between GCS & public schools...something you CANNOT get at a private school either. Fantastic school, I would recommend it to every caring, involved parent out there.
We love this school. Both my children are thriving. The staff and administration truly care about and know the students. It is a wonderful school community.
We took our child out of this school. It was a negative experience. We know several parents who did the same. Yelling is wrong. Period.
I Love This School My Daugther Feel Happy The teachers Help Students. Everyone is Kind and Generous. The Principal Mrs Kopus is Wonderfull Person.
As for you 'awful person' GCS in an awesome school. And get in the real world. Teachers yell at students. Grow up. Big deal. Ur wrong. U stink. Dont even say something like that.
Awful..when I went on the tour I overheard a teacher yelling at her students. I should have realized never to put my child in pre-k there. My child was yelled at as well but I did not know until after we left the school. The teacher was disrespectful to both me and my child. Awful..awful place. I wish I could reverse time because I would never enroll my child in that school if I had the chance again.
We are a Greenwich family with children at GCS. We cannot say enough about this school, beautiful campus, engaged parents, respectful students and excellent academic standards. The school has high expectations for every student and encourages them to do their best. Serious teachers who could be paid a lot more elsewhere stay because of the family oriented focus. GCS is an incredible value compared to the private schools in the area and you get so much more for your child in terms of their emotional and academic development, this is not a school trying to be a university with a full orchestra and millions in endowment. It has been a wonderful experience for our children and parents who are looking for an authentic, meaningful environment for their kids should consider GCS.
i went here for a for a good 5 years, don't do this to your children. They might go to good highschools because of it but the price they pay in loosing there own persionality, and being able to deal with problems out side of school are not near worth it, I have learned this threw experence
i love this school. it is so great. you make good friends and learn more education with the fun teachers you get.
GCS is a wonderful loving family. You will never meet a nicer, more grounded group of people in one place. The teachers are caring and really go that extra mile. The parents are involved and enthusiastic. Academically, the school is actually a Blue Ribbon school placing it in the top 10% of schools in the country and the children get placed in wonderful secondary schools after graduating GCS. The values and morals the school instills are refreshing in todays day and age where society thinks about only the individual. GCS is a community and teaches the children to think as a loving, Christ-like community and to treat each other with respect and caring. WE have been at the school for 6 years and can't imagine our children anywhere else.
It takes more then a few caring teachers to have a great school. It takes a plan, leadership and money to be committed, Not the 'same old same old ' year after year. Since most of the kids come from Stamford,The Diocess should either invest in this school or close it down and use ( And invest ) in the Catholic School in Stamford. Why have two schools so close to each other? Having the word'Greenwich' in the School name may make parents feel a connection to the town, but it doesn't help a child learn.
I love Greenwich Catholic School. Great caring teachers. Parent involvment is great. We are all like a family.
The good and the bad.. Nice parents, Nice kids, Teachers that care. The Bad.. Few Computers ( Some don't work. All very old, Small Library, Old building needing repair, Short school day, No real leadership, ( The Diocese will not let that happen on the local level ) Ask two people the same question get three different answers? Will not list backround of teachers On website. In fact the website lists few if any real facts about the curriculum. School in Greenwich but less then 40 percent of kids live in town ( A lot of driving for those 'play dates' Not as good as the Greenwich Public School. ( In my eye)
Our family and our children are blessed to be at GCS. I cannot see my children anywhere else. They are happy, well adjusted and Christ like. In a world that tries to justifies itself whether good or bad. This school is just good. May God continue to bless and provide for the school and it's children in the future.
A quality education with impressive facilities. GCS has strong parent involvement through its parent association (HSA) and a dedicated faculty.
