Cedarhurst School

i am to this school now. i wouldnt say i hate it. it does help me and im doing really good here. its better than my public school and the staff there help me alot

The Teachers never call parents when their is a problem and I don't think the children is learning much

I currently am going to this school. I would say that it's so so. I don't love it and I don't hate it. I go to this school because I have a few problems in public school because of past issues with children. I do not have serious mental health issues but I needed a break from public school and I needed to prepare myself for the future. The staff is great. They have a great French and Spanish and art teacher. They have other unique outlets there. There are some kids that are hard to be around because what people need to take in is that there are some people there with issues. But overall it's a nice school. If you have a straight A student who loves working, then i wouldnt reccomend this school because they focus on making you comfortable.

I have been to 3 high schools in my lifetime, and while I learned the least at Cedarhurst, it is not so much that it speaks badly of Cedarhurst, so much as well of the other two schools. One of the other schools I attended simultaneously to my studies at Cedarhurst, The other school provided a higher academic requirement and was less flexible, so in order to pass both, I had to manipulate the faculty at Cedarhurst, which proved easier than it should have been, Their staff was supporting, and a few of the instructors not only knew what they were doing, but knew how to keep it interesting. While other teachers taught all of their classes as independent study halls, and were glad that most of their students made it to class with some regularity, The academic level of Cedarhurst is average, comparable to public schools, and deficient to many preperatory schools.

Cedarhurst is a great school with a dedicated, unique and talented staff. My son greatly benefited from placement and was supported by the staff and other students in a very positive way that was not available from resources in his home school district. The student body is diverse, unique and precious. Many school districts would be better served if they were more like Cedarhurst.

I am a former student of this school, and I learned absolutely nothing in my two years at Cedarhurst. I was very disappointed at the lack of knowledge among the staff in regards to their specific subject of instruction. Gym had no level of competition among students at all. It typically consistes fo an hour long van drive to somewhere such as a bowling alley, or health club. The health club was, I admit, a good idea, and very useful. The teachers were supportive, and good at what they do (provide a therapeutic environment). Anything else, they could not do. Overall, if your child has any academic potential prior to going to Cedarhurst, please, leave them in public school. Cedarhust only further alienates them from their peers.

I am a graduate of Cedarhurst, class of 2001, and this school saved my life. The staff helped me to get my stuff together and graduate on time, in addition to providing emotional and therapeutic support. The teachers and other staff members always reached out, always wanted to see us doing our best, and were never afraid to push us to work to our potential. Because of the life skills I learned at this school, I now work a full time job, have plenty of friends and social interaction (including many of my classmates), and am happier than I've ever been. Before sending your child to any old school recommended by the school board, seriously consider this one, a place where your child's best interests are in mind and at heart and where your child won't feel isolated or tossed aside. My heartfelt thanks to this school and it's staff.

This school is excellent for my son. some positive changes in his behavior at home are a result of the influences from the cedarhurst school. it appears the staff at this school have genuine dedication to teach their students. the involvement of parents is not a criteria in the school setting but is very important to work along the same goals at home.i think the school is in sync with my belief that the student should be responsible for school time and home time and overbearing teachers or parents can undermine one's learning & development. so far , all the academic programs & activities offered from cedarhurst are varied and present suitable challenges for my child. i am very pleased with the progress so far and also like the communication from this school to know what and where i can contribute on the homefront.
