Awesome school!!!! My oldest has been to 5 different schools and this has been by far his favorite! Both of my boys REALLY miss this school!! After we moved we got several packages from their former teacher/classmates with wonderful letters. Now going to a school in TX, my two boys are far ahead of their classmates. They start languages and instrument classes earlier then other schools and therefor my son is ahead of his classmates, who havent even started yet. There was no bullying as stated in other reviews! We were only there for 6 months and my sons have made some awesome friends that they still talk to even though we moved. The after school programs are outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a great school!!
I couldn't wait to get my kid out of this school. The Principal is totally useless and not parent friendly at all. If your child has any special needs or quirkiness, this is not a friendly environment at all. Teacher of the year is given to the most useless teachers. Most of them were very good but NOT ALL of them are...yet they are patted on the back by this administration. I found the environment in Haddam to be more condusive to learning and the people much more down-to-earth. So glad the Middle School principal is more receptive to hearing you out than the Elementary school principal. As for bullying, forget it....by law they are supposed to report it ...and this school does NOT. Just keep filing complaints with the State Board of Ed.....eventually the message will be heard.
I have to agree with the previous review on bullying. My child was a victim of bullying. I made 2 seperate appointments with the Principle both of which were canceled (not by me) It were the teachers who called the children out an informed me of what happened. I have great respect for the teachers but th principle is useless!
We have been very pleased with the schools ability to identify and address children requiring additional attention. Plus, the parents of these kids take a lot of interest in programs and the school.
I have found that this school has not done enough when it comes to complaints from parents on bullying.I would like to see the administration look a little closer at how some teachers handle (or don't) complaints concerning bullying.
