I am a student at this school. We are not that bad of a school. Compared to other schools in this world, we are magnificent.
Litchfield High School is not a perfect place. But if you can find somewhere that is, please let me know. The teachers at Litchfield are, at worst, too easygoing. They have a genuine care for the students and other faculty. We all recently went through the retirement of our previous principal, who was a true gem to the Litchfield High School community. This was hard on all of us, but helped us to appreciate the teachers and other members of the staff who remain. The classes offered are outstanding, with (naturally) one or two problematic professors. AP classes are offered and special help is easy to find from anyone. We have an extremely successful co-op with WAMOGO, a neighboring school. Litchfield is an amazing place for all.
I'm a student at the school and to be completely honest, it isn't the best school in the world. But it isn't the worst, yea it has its ups and downs, but with most of the teachers, you learn something, thats what school is about right?
I am a student at Litchfield High school and I have never seen a school worse than this one. There is maybe one good teacher per grade but thats only if your lucky. I think that if you are looking for a good school to send your child to or go to your self, then Litchfield is the last place you want to go. -IRVING
There were a couple of good teachers but they were few and far between. Most seemed uninterested. Add the horrible condition of the school, the lack of community funding and your children will need more than good luck to get out of there with a positive experience, forget about a blue ribbon.
I am currently a student at Litchfield High School and it is a horrible school. The facilities kids get special treatment. The building is a mess there are wires hanging from the ceiling and trash cans collecting rain water. The punishment is completely irrational and with no consistant system. People get more detentions for small things then I have ever seen before. The ones that acually do wrong get a warning. I would strongly recommend avoiding Litchfield High School if you want a decent education with a fair envirnment.
I am a student at the LHS facilities and I am not satisfied with the way the school is kept up. First of all they charge outrageous prices for all school functions, sports, food, etc. Most of all, the problem is how they spend the money on renovating the fields, instead of classrooms and facility repairs. The principal is definitely much better in this year of 2005-2006 than previous years but that is all. The teachers and faculty other than the principal, are a bunch of bullies, they push the students around. They are too power hungry. As for the punishments, more detentions are served at this school than class time for some students, and some students get away with doing wrong. The school just needs to be changed completely for the better.
I am a student at litchfield high school and i have been to many schools in my lifetime. The problem with this school is everything, even though there renovating it im not going to see that renovation because i will be graduated, this school has very discusting lunch, they overprice everything you have to pay 100 dollars to park you car, this is america. The administration is terrible im the recent years, the new principals have judged kids and dont accept them for who they are, its who they hang out with. If they actually took the time to know us instead of judge us 24/7 maybe the school would get somewhere. They only suspect the kids with bad grades and baggy clothes of doing something. The faculties children almost get speacial treatment, they can talk on cell phones, we cant and listen to music we cant, im outraged.
Currently this administration leaves a lot to be desired. They are extremely unprofessional and belittling to both parents and students. I feel that I have the right (and reponsiblity) to teach my child to always be respectfull of all teachers and administrators, but I will never teach them that the school staff is always correct. The school also has no set disciplinary procedure. Two separate children can commit the same offense but receive two extremly different punishments with no explanation.
As many people have mentioned the buildings are not in good condition. But the excellent teachers (there are a few weak one's as in any school) and the superior leadership of our new principal, almost make up for the flaws in the faciltity. The students see beyond the buildings inadequaicies and truly love their school. The school offers many AP classes. The teacher-student involvement is great. The teachers use e-mail and school-notes for all of the classes, progress reports are timely, meetings with teachers are easily set up as a team or indiviually. Homework and makeup work is easy to obtain. There has never been a time that we have felt that our children are at risk from poor air quality. Our children are very fortunate to attend such a wonderful school.
