We are very happy with IDS. Very strong academically in most cases plus the culture of the school is acceptance and respect. It lets your child be the unique person that they are. My daughter enjoys being there very much.

Non-denominational school that is particularly accepting of all...a refreshing viewpoint. This is an amazing environment. Small, selective, and exceptional. Fantastic teachers (large volume of Masters/PhDs) and stimulating environment for students from pre-K throught 8th grade. Love the fact it has remained small and exclusive. A very satisfied and proud parent

THIS IS NOT A CHRISTIAN SCHOOL - IT IS SECULAR. I went to IDS Pre-K through 8th grade. It was an excellent school and I was beyond well prepared for secondary school. The teachers were always excellent and caring. Now that I am having my own child, I hope to someday send him there.

A truly remarkable school. As a teacher who was educated at the best Ed schools in the nation and was department head at a gifted program in residence at Wesleyan University, the Independent Day School is and enacts the best pedagogy and Ed philosophies there are. If only every child could go to a school like this. 95% of the teachers are brilliant and developmentally stellar with the students. This school is better than the legendary Bank Street school in NYC where MacArthur Award winners kids go and I student taught (that with University of Chicago Lab School pretty much developed progressive education and higher order thinking curriculum). It surprises me this school has a hard time recruiting kids in so affluent an area of the nation. Most parents who can afford a school like this, unfortunately, must not understand what makes a great education in comparison to their local public districts. To prospective parents: sacrifice the fancy car, expensive vacations, or second home, and send your children to IDS as a life long investment. Our children and their development is our only true legacy.

This school is a diamond in the rough. The children not only come out stong academically which we would expect from all schools, but they have such respect for themselves, others, diversity and such poise and confidence. It is such a pleasure to walk the halls of this school and see the children happy and engaged (every day!). Teachers are passionate about teaching and they know every child, whether they teach them or not. Not only do they teach well, they teach to a child in the way that the child learns. Truly extraordinary! I wish every child could experience the enthusiastic learning the way these children do at Independent Day School!
