I visited the school for the first time today, looking for options for my 5 year-old boy. I had the experience by phone first, the receptionist was cold, unfriendly, and not helpful at all. I found the same behavior in the women attending the front desk, they never greeted me, ignored me while I was there waiting for being "attended", kept chit-chatting and it took the 3 of them to be helpful at all. I hope the rest of the staff are not like this!

I have been impressed by the organization and rigor of this school, which opened in a brand new facility for the 2013-14 school year. I believe it is now twice as large because it includes students that went to Harbor Elementary, but I see great potential for learning. It is lacking in enrichment and fostering a general love of learning and curiosity among its younger students. My kindergartener has had a hard time because of this. I also feel some support staff are untrained in how to speak to children respectfully and help lift their self esteem. I have no doubt my children are learning here, and feel a sense of community , but I hope more enrichment and warmth will come as it becomes a more established arts magnet.
