Mahan is without a doubt the best public elementary school in Norwich. CMT scores have been the highest in Norwich for the past several years. The staff is friendly and caring. The teachers are absolutely wonderful. It is a smallish school with a top notch special ed program. My older daughter who is now in middle school really misses it!

A year ago I went there and I am 11 now. I think that all of the teachers are great. :3 The only thing that they do not have are after school activities.( which would be nice) If anybody is planning to change schools, I suggest they should go there because I still know all of the kids there and they make great friends.

The CMT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Connecticut.
Beginning in the 2009-2010 school year, the Connecticut Department of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the CMT test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
