Old Lyme public schools offer the well- rounded exposure typically associated with public schools but add the individualized, accountable educational experieinced associated with private schools.

Great school for academics, parent involvement, and special needs. Their speech pathologist is a miracle worker! The PTA is awesome and very welcoming. However, the teachers are very snobbish and are not welcoming at all, especially to newcomers in the town; they are caddy and condescending, and treat the parents as if they know nothing about their own children. At first I thought it was personal, and then I started hearing the same from other parents. The principal is wonderful, yet she does nothing about complaints about the teachers' behaviors nor demeanor towards parents. Overall, I would recommend this school, especially for the academics part, but you have to be willing to put up with some of the 'bad apple' teachers.
