My daughter started going to Foundation School when she was 4, much to our happiness. All possibilites of other schools/programs in this state were exhausted for Ashley's special circumstances and this school was a GodSend. She was finally comfortable. Ashley is now 10 1/2 and has done nothing but flourish due to the tailor-made program created for her by the best teachers around. That's the beauty of this school; catering to your own child's specific needs. EX/They saw how much she loved music so they brought back a 30-something year old Music Therapy program that worked beautifully in encouraging more speech. The thing is, this school has given her willingness to learn, happiness, comfort, encouragement, more speech therapy than she could get anywhere due to her severe Apraxia and simply, less frustrated. We owe quite a bit to Foundation. Autism is sad but it doesn't have to be. It's quite special.

Foundation School is a school for children ages 3-21 with disabilities. There are 3 divisions to this school (lower, middle and a separate high school). My son is in the lower school which is primarily a school for children with speech and language delay. There are highly trained SLPs and OTs. There is also a gym class. There are children with autism and severe apraxia as well as children with other dis-abilities. The staff is highly knowledgeable about speech and language disorders and motor planning disorders--especially apraxia. My son did not speak any words when he started 6 months ago and after being here for only a short time is progressing very nicely with speech. He can say many words and can say the sounds of almost every letter. The staff is dedicated and kind and works hard with the children.
