I love the small class sizes. It feels like such a small community there. The looping program is terrific. it offers a great academic program.

The facilities are run down, too much emphasis on academics and standarized tests, too little emphasis on personal growth, choice, socialization, diversity, etc

West Vine Street School has been a wonderful experience for our family. The school provides a safe and loving educational experience. Principal Ginny Brown is fabulous. Not only is she a wonderful person, she takes the time to know all her students and their families. She brings a great deal of energy and dedication to the school. There are many outstanding teachers, two per classroom. Parental involvement is very high. (I've found myself on waiting lists to help out!) Teacher/Adult to student ratio is very low. My youngest needed extra help, and was never left behind. For kindergartners, early introductions to the school and classmates are offered. A visit to the classrooms and a practice bus ride. Also an ice cream social encourages new students to meet each other and their teachers. Many events for students and parents through the year build pride in learning. The downside, WVSS only teaches three grades.
