This school is academically rigorous! My daughter is in Kindergarten, and was reading chapter books by November. How is that even possible, and why couldn't she learn when I tried to teach her? Today a very famous children's author visited their class and taught them how she writes a book, and they had all written and illustrated their own books in her fashion (having been studying her as one of the authors in their author series) and she went around commenting on their books. I was blown away! The children respect the school and their teachers, and have wonderful camaraderie. The parents are very active--many are at the school each day, and it's expected, and the principal is extremely dedicated. We couldn't be more pleased.

Riverside is THE very Best School in Greenwich! I have chosen to live in the Riverside area solely for the school. The leadership is consistently excellent and the teachers are held to very high standards.

Norman Rockwell couldn't have dreamed up a school as perfect as Riverside. Respect is learned from the first day of Kindergarten and permeates the six year experience. The students are very bright and the parents very involved. The teachers are young and enthusiastic.

Beginning in the 2009-2010 school year, the Connecticut Department of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the CMT test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
