Fantastic Middle School with a great and caring principal who makes it her goal to know all of her students, a knowledgeable and caring staff of teachers and great kids. Academically it is challenging and also offers a superior music and art program. HJMS certainly prepares the students for the demands of the High School. No sports teams, though ... just intramural.

We have been very happy with Henry James. The teachers are very accessible and always available via email, phone etc. The teachers and administrators are very involved and have very high expectations of the students. The grading is very hard at this school and the teachers expect a very high level of thinking.

The school provides a challenging environment for the 7th & 8th graders. There is about 2 - 3 hours of homework per week night. Our daughter comments that the teachers are nice and they grade hard.

Henry James is a school with high standards of education and high expectations of the student from the teachers. Their music, art and sports programs are available to all students and students are encouraged to excel, showcase and particpate with their talents in all events. The PTA is very involved as a strong contributor in many ways, while bridging a solid and open understanding between the school and the parents.

This school offers a variety of academic programs for students to succeed in, and a range of challenge levels in the classes. Art classes are required one quarter every year. Sports are not a main emphasis, although many programs take place after school. Parents are incouraged to participate with the school and volunteer. This is a good school, although very large.
