It's too bad South Kent has lost its way as a school. When I attended for three years its strength was its small size and focus on the whole student. Now it's focused on jocks (they probably call them high-level student athletes) and Asian students who pay more than full-tuition and subsidize the recruited athletes. Their teams win, but the school can't compete on the basis of its facilities, college list, or academic standards. Unless there is a change in the current leadership, I don't see any hope for my alma mater. The school which prepared me well is in a slow, desperate death spiral.... sad.

I have been thrilled with what South Kent has done for my son since he enrolled one year ago. A strong student in his public HS and not a stellar athlete, he has found an incredibly supportive, creative and nurturing environment in which he is now thriving. The dedication of the faculty - teachers, dorm parents and coaches - is truly remarkable. I suspect the school's size and family atmosphere makes this possible. My older boy's boarding school experience at a larger school did not compare. I wish we had sent them both to South Kent!

We were very disappointed with this school. The level of teacher involvement is poor. The emphasis on athletics outweighs the emphasis on academics and the kids are left floundering. The administration is weak.

This is my sons first year at South Kent and I must say as a parent that I am very pleased. Every step that he has taken at South Kent I feel that I have taken it with him. My son has matured so much over the past few months that I can't express it with words. South Kent is one of the best private schools in the country.

Well my son has been attending for two years now. it is an extraordinary place where potential is realized by the students. Everyone is involved, and because the faculty and their families live at the school, there is a tremendous feeling that these teachers would not want to be doing anything else but what they do at South Kent. My son was on the honor roll last year, and school has always been a struggle for him. The effort is more important than the grade. All students do chores, there is mandatory study period each night from 8-9:45PM, and the structure, routine, caring and consequences has made my son mature and be responsible. I have only nice things to say about South Kent School. It's magical.
