So pleased with our move to this area and with how this school is run. The teachers, principal, and support staff have work seamlessly together and have provided a wonderful, supportive and caring learning environment. Very refreshing to see that the principal and staff really take the time to get to know the students.
The teachers at this school have been great for the most part. The priciple refuses communication and to deal with issues. She is constantly pointing her fingers at everyone else and refuses to take blame or responsibility for what happens in her school. She tells parents that if they don't like it they have other school choices. This principle seems to be a right fighter at the cost and safety of the children. In my opinion this school could be a 10 rating without he at the helm.
The teachers at this school have the potential to do great things, however, the principal and support specialists are not strong instructional leaders. The communication is lacking on what the students are doing curriculum wise in the classrooms. We moved from a school (across town) that provided us with weekly newsletters to be able have follow through with our children at home. The principal lacks social skills...not very warm.
We moved to S.Windsor/Eli Terry from a "10" rated greatschools.com elementary school based on word of mouth that S.Windsor has a great school system. Eli Terry is currently a "7" and it has to do with the leadership of the school. The principal is less than friendly and does not take the time to know each of the students at the school, and hides behind her office staff to communicate with parents. Parents state that the principal is a good principal, but honestly they have not experienced a principal that leads a "10" rated school.
