So far I have 2 preschool children that attend the school. The staff come to my home before they begin, to introduce themselves and 'play' with them in order to evaluate them and acclimatize them to the idea of school. The staff has been so caring , and the feedback on my girls has been forthcoming. They love their teachers and classmates, and can't wait to go to school every day!
This school is an integral part of a close-knit community. The teachers and administration are caring and truly concerned about the well-being of the children in their school. It's a very welcoming school for children and parents.I'm very pleased with VES!
My 2 children currently attending VES are in the pre-school and 1st Grade. Our experiences so far have been very good. My personal experience with the teachers has been extremely professional and very helpful. They have small classes and know the children and work with us to keep behavioral issues in school going well. We are fairly new to town and everyone at VES has been very helpful (including the bus drivers who are extremely friendly).
Voluntown has the potential of being a great school. It lacks direction and leadership. It needs to address issues keeping it from reaching its potential.
I was told there would be a strings program, as my daughter has played the violin for 3 yrs. previous. There is not. Also, at a parent teacher meeting to address one of my daughters' needs her 7th grade L.A. teacher was very snide towards me. As a parent, we're there to recieve help for our child..not to feel attacked.
I can only say that in reference to my 3 children that attended and 2 children that presently attend the school, all the needs of the children have been addressed and have moved onto greater things. The two that are in school are doing fine and I have little problems with the faculty.
Caring environment - everyone knows each other and helps each other. Teachers go out of their way to provide extra activities for students.
This school is far to small and supervision is at an extream here which gives little freedom for students.
A public school that is over-run with popularity contests. Mostly between the parents and staff. In this area, it's all who you know and who you are related to, that weighs greatly on your child's education
