We could not be happier with Braeburn! The teachers and new principal exceed the highest level of professionalism. We did consider private school because our son faces some challenges and we wanted to make sure he was in the best educational environment possible to meet his needs. We were prepared to spend the extra money on private school if we felt there would be added benefit. However, after looking at some of the most high-end private schools in the area, we concluded that Braeburn offered more. Our son has loved school, and is challenged and supported each and every day. The community is down to earth and involved. We feel lucky that we ended up in this district.
We love Braeburn School! The teachers are invested, caring and hardworking. The new principal has a terrific attitude and sets the tone for a wonderful, learning environment for the kids. The community is warm and friendly. And the best thing -- my son loves going to school. We couldn't be happier!
With great research prior to deciding where to raise and educate our son, we were somewhat disappointed with our decision to raise him and school him in the heart of West Hartford. Specifically disappointed in this school. We have encountered an extremely lax principal, lacking and stressed teachers. Seriously stressed classrooms. That being said, there is a definite air of change with a new principal in place this year. One can only hope for positive change. There is however a much larger problem, ignored and purposely hidden: school politics and a clear division demographically. We are currently researching again, charter and private schools.
Solid school -- Teachers really care and emphasis is on children's social development (team, individual organization, etc. skills) as well as the curriculum. Class sizes stressed (up to 28 in 5th grade class) due to budgets/bulge of kids, but overall parents / staff work very hard to make it a fun and productive learning environment. Having attended a fairly elite private school in England for 3 years, this compared fairly well -- the school has large classes, but the focus and results are there.
