This school is the best thing that ever happen to my child. He was bored in his ct hamlet public school for years, and was frustrated by the lack of subjects presented and the time wasted on class organization and discipline. At GFA academics, ethics, good sportsmanship, hard work, and advance topics are introduced in fun and exciting ways. The teachers are wonderful. The campus is beautiful. The kids are NICE and engaged. At a time when most kids disengage in the learning process, my son is more involved than ever. Thank you GFA for making my son so engaged and happy.
Beautiful waterside campus, strong academics with the right teachers. High staff turnover, with extremely poor leadership. If your family lives in Westport, slightly west or north of the school, then there exist good opportunities for school involvement and participation, otherwise not so much. Very poor athletics program with "outsourced coaching" -- most coaches are not teachers at the school -- one of the truly attractive features of a private school and their results are well under par. Very poor support for students with no math lab, no english lab, no music lab, and no foreign language lab -- just a supervised study hall. Due to scheduling conflicts very difficult to get teachers to line up with frees for one-on-one. Adding a commute and before school and after school conferences for students weren't really an option either. Have a primitive technology infrastructure and while trying to be a laptop school, it's along the lines of a little knowledge being a dangerous thing. If you live south of Westport, particularly Greenwich, this is not the school for you.
Top notch prep school with strong academics, emphasis on music and the arts, warm atmosphere that fosters mature relationships across grades and between students and teachers. Beautiful campus with water views.
Outstanding school. Warm caring community with strong parent involvement. Teachers and students have great relationships. Academically challenging applauding creative thinking. Lots of extracurricular activities and student leadership opportunities. Good diversity. The students at this school are thriving!
