My mother,me and my children attended this small, wonderful catholic elementary school. Now my grandchildren are attending We love the family atmosphere of this school and the important values and education instilled in these children today. As finanacial issues become difficult for everyone (parents and educators) we hope they can continue.
ALL four of my children have spent time in this school. It is an outstanding alternative to the public schools in town in my opinion. A few friends of my children left to attend the new public middle school, which is an excellent facility. Honestly if your child is self motivated or parent motivated they will survive in the public school. If they are like mine and are consistently studying the fine line between good enough and not good enough you will appreciate the 'push' the staff at this school offers. I think this is a typical catholic school with marginal finances. The books are not new and the science equipment is practically non-existant. To offset this the staff pays more attention to whether or not the homework is done. The class sizes are smaller than public school. My kids were prepared for High School and College (two so far).
I disagree strongly with poster named Cathy. This school's curriculum is extremely challenging. These students are studying at least a year ahead of their public school counterparts and have very challenging homework. The middle school is above and beyond other schools. While it is extremely challenging for students, some may even find it too difficult, it in turn pushes students to step up the plate. What my son learned in middle school history and literature has rewarded him in high school and will continue to do so in college. In terms of parent participation, a parent should not be shy about volunteering...they will be greeted with open arms. There are no parent cliques...take a chance...volunteer to help the kids. Don't stand back and not help. This is a Catholic school with a tight budget that puts your child first.
I am disappointed with this school. The students are not expected to live up to their abilities even though the school states that they have a challenging program. The school does have activities, yet I would rather the school focus more on expecting more from the students. Other schools seem to expect more than this one. Only certain parents are involved. There is a clique of parents who exclude others. Very disturbing.
A community school environment with a concentration in academics. Parent involvement is high and encouraged. There are many family activites and the classroom sizes are small. There are no special ed. services available at the school and they are very up front about their limitations.
